Well, I'm not technically banned myself, and I'm under the impression Scott can probably go back after a few days or something, but I don't know what to make of it really. Regardless, for me, I'd hate to see a friendship, or whatever you might call an internet friendship, with someone I admire and whose comics I was reading since I was 10 years old go down the tubes over something so dumb. Messing around on newsarama just isn't worth that, to me. I imagine Scott feels the same way. So no more Liefeld threads for me - it's the end of an era, and I imagine Rob will come around eventually, as he must know deep down I'm a fan or he would have just banned me.

I guess that newsarama thread really got to him, which surprised me, because I thought it was much more light-hearted than the usual venom that gets spewed over there, but that just goes to show, I guess, why I shouldn't presume to know what someone would take offensively and what he wouldn't, which is why I will simply avoid those threads entirely.

The bottom line, I like posting on Rob's boards so I'm going to be more careful not to offend him. In addition, I'm serious about promoting Blud Blood and these anthologies on the internet, so I'm going to try to avoid fighting with people online entirely - then I make something positive out of something that started out negative. A difficult resolution to carry out on the internet, where arguing is second nature for most of us, but that is what I am going to try to do.

Screw that. Stating an opinion is just that, and making a little joke is just that.

If people can't take it, fuck them.

I LOVE Jim Lee's work (I use Jim as an example here, but this extends to Dale Keown, Joe Mad, Turner, McNiven and about a hundred others) but I'll make jokes.

We made fun of Jim's recent lateness, but does that mean I'm any less of a fan? Considering I'm picking up more Wildstorm titles (and waiting patiently for them) that DC titles, I don't think I 'hate' the man or his work.

The thing about being Rob's fan is this: you have to LOVE everything he does. Everything. The slightest negative comment, crit or opinion makes you a hater.

I have always tried to treat creators with respect. I didn't like what Claremont was doing with the X-men titles and I stated that respectfully. I try not to bash anyone, but I will crack jokes, even with creators I like. In fact, I feel more comfortable making fun of creators I like, it's like making a joke about a friend. You don't feel bad because you know them and you know no malice was intended.

If people want to get all twisted about it and make it into a huge deal and all that shit, fuck them.

I come back to check on the boards and I find a couple little backhanded comments directed towards me again or rather towards a project I'm working on.

I'm tired of defending myself to people who just want to hate me anyway. So yes, the gloves are off. I will still attempt to be respectful in the way I conduct myself, but apologizing for making jokes and for the work I do is where I draw the line.

It was actually directed at Jude.

Someone made the comment that we're just copying Rob by doing Blud Blood and something to the effect of 'how dare we not kiss ass and hand over our first born' when he was nice to us.

I'll be the first one to sing Rob's praises about doing the Blud sketch for Jude. It was a really nice thing for him to do.

And then Jude makes a joke about the Robbies or whatever, and now he's 2-faced and a hater.

Hey, I'm all for the controversy, but I made the decision a little while ago to stop apologizing for the jokes we make and this simply reinforced it.

Well as you've experienced, if you aren't on his balls, then you aren't with him over there.

He really isn't endearing online, which is a shame because all I"ve ever heard is good things about him from people that have met him.

Yeah, that's always bugged me.

Oh well. I guess I don't belong in the club.

I still like his work and I still try to learn from him. I don't really care what his 'fans' think of me. There are too many important things in life to worry about.

Ahhhh... you gotta love the drama.
