Hope you survive the experience!
Over the past few years, The Outhouse has worked to build a front page that produces quality original content for fans of comic books and other geek-related media. The voice of the Outhouse as an internet publication has grown in both popularity and influence thanks to the hard work of a dedicated team of writers that works together to produce this content on a daily basis. During this time, we have noted an increase in traffic. The Outhouse now reaches over 120,000 unique visitors monthly. The Outhouse is extremely proud of these accomplishments, and deeply grateful to its writers and staff.
At the same time, while we've always strived to provide a free and fun atmosphere, we have long heard complaints about lack of consistency in some of our community decisions and a lack of communication between the site staff and the members of our community. This concerns us because the Outhouse is a business and that makes you our customers. Customer concerns should never be taken lightly. This is a position the Outhouse strongly believes in, and we believe that our community does as well.
As you know, longtime posters GHERU and bkthomson will be working as moderators of the Outhouse. In their new roles, they will monitor the reports and perform organizational and administrative duties on the forums. What they will NOT do from here on out is make unilateral decisions regarding discipline on the forums. All members of the Outhouse management team will discuss and consider any disciplinary matters in order to come up with a fair and consistent solution. Like any successful business, we respect our customers, and our community members are our most loyal customers. Like any business, we intend to treat our customers cordially in all situations.
The Outhouse team has also heard recent concerns, and we vow to handle all reports with more careful deliberation. The Outhouse team will consider and investigate every report, and will be sure to collect information from any involved parties before making permanent decisions. No reports will be closed or ignored without consideration by multiple members of the team.
Additionally, we are putting in place a new position of community liaison, and are happy to announce MithrosMistress has accepted this role. She will be available to answer any questions or hear any concerns about site business fairly and with an open mind, and will be bringing the concerns to the entire Outhouse management team for consideration. We want to hear your feedback.
We hope that all of our posters, past and present, will join us in continuing to make this community an oasis of free and open discussion on the web, but also one where we all treat one another with respect. Lapsed posters who have felt disconnected from the community or the staff are welcome to come back be a part of the community, and they are also welcome to voice any lingering concerns to the Community Liaison. New posters are urged to join in what will be a new era of prosperity and communal spirit for the site.
Thank you for helping to make this website great.
