, an animated film by the director of The Triplets of Bellville
Very similar in style, though not as surreal or grotesque as Triplets
. Still mostly non-verbal, and most of the few lines of dialogue were in French. This didn't bother me until the end when I realized I must have misunderstood something pivotal. I looked up the plot summary and, sure enough, I didn't get a major plot point. I'm not sure whose fault it was in the communication, the movie's or mine. I'd like to hear another take on it.
The animation was absolutely gorgeous, some of the best I've ever seen. While there was little dialogue, it was far from a silent movie. Music and sound effects were impeccable, really drawing you into the full environment. Good movie, but very different. Worth a NetFlix rental.
