Black people have little if any experience with Tom Waits, outside of his movie roles perhaps. I've only heard one or two songs by the guy and the first one I heard, I thought it was a joke.
Whiteys are, however, possessed of a slavish devotion to him as a musical icon. We've explained our devotion to rap, hip-hop and big-booty white bitches; now honkeys must explain the appeal of Tom Waits.
