Best X-book? Yes.

But what Punchy said is another debate entirely, that wasn't really being had prior to him making that post.

Thus, my poking fun at the Watchmen thing.

I know, but when we recomend stuff, we can go with different criteria: you can recomend watchmen or JLI, for different people and different tastes. Theory of reception says that a book-reading experience is composed of what the book expects plus what the reader expects.
To develop their conscience and consciousness, to make them aware of what is going on, to prepare the precarious ground for the future alternatives—this is our task: "our" not only as Marxists but as intellectuals, and that means all those who are still free and able to think by themselves and against indoctrination, communist as well as anticommunist.

Socialist Humanism?, Herbert Marcuse, 1965

Is it still good? I dropped right around Fear Itself (along with a bunch of other stuff). Is it worth getting back into?

Yeah, Ellis on TBolts was really good too.

Yep!

GHERU wrote:never read it, but I heard good things about Batman Inc

Same here.

GHERU wrote:would IDW's GI Joe: RAM count as mainstream?

Sure.

That's a pretty short list though.

Best X-book? Yes.

Yeah, I've never said BEST BOOK OUT THERE... but certainly the best and most consistent X book.

Too inconsistent.
Inconsistent?
Yep.
Avengers by Bendis?
Yeah.
You think it's inconsistent?
Yeah, too much sameness and reliance on events.
Events?
Yep.

Punchy wrote:Avengers Academy

Not reading it so no comment.

Punchy wrote:Thunderbolts

Hard to argue.

Punchy wrote:Wolverine & The X-Men

... really? Give it 5 years with the same writer and see.

Punchy wrote:Uncanny X-Force

Meh.

Punchy wrote:Fantastic Four and FF

Hickman is certainly channeling his inner Lee and Kirby.

Punchy wrote:The Ultimates

All show... no row.

Gorgeous art though.
