So.... Will Iron Man 3 break the curse?

Postby Wisdom000 » Sat Jan 19, 2013 1:17 pm

In the history of comic book movies, there has never been a time in a series of films, where the third movie didn't just absolutely suck.

No matter how the first two were, the third one always comes along and just stinks up the whole franchise.

The original Superman 1 and 2 were near perfect for their day. Then three comes along and suddenly its Richard Pryor and video games.

Batman, I hate the burton films, but back in the day they were the best thing available... then 3 came out and Schumacher made the old 60's batman look like the fricking Killing Joke.

Batman got a second chance, and it looked like Nolan was gonna be the one to break it... but fuck me it was just bloody awful... almost schumacher awful... No scratch that... bat nipples would have been a blessing over batwhiner.

Sam Raimi had two phenomenal Spidey movies... then in 3 he is all emo'd up, getting in dance numbers, and the villians are just lamesauce...

The less said about X-men 3 the better.

So... will Iron Man 3 do it? So far Marvel has not released a single crappy super hero movie since they started making flicks themselves... but this will be the first movie released without any input from Avi Arad...

It looks good, but so did all the others....

Dark Knight Rises was a flawed film, but it was still a really decent film, better than Begins at LEAST.

DKR wasn't as good as The Dark Knight, but it was the second best movie in the franchise and while flawed, still one of the better movies of the year.

You are crazy.

Go back to crazy town.

You guys need to stop drinking the koolaid... DKR was just plain awful... the villians plan was the dumbest most contrived thing I have ever seen, the whole Talia thing was just effing stupid.

Not-Robin was lame, and projected a mile off.

And the ending.... christ.... the ending was just dumb.

Nothing in the movie made any sense....

Hell the bat plane was even dumber than the bat pod... I mean it takes some real effort to design a motorcycle that rolls its front wheels over its guns every time it turns or stops.... but they managed to create an propeller lifted aircraft with all the weight firmly in front, so that when the engine started up all it would do was flip forward and spin around upside down.

And I never knew severe spinal injuries could be healed by a couple of punches and being hung from a meat hook in a filthy dungeon for a year...

And really, the biggest flaw of the film... a Batman film where batman is only in like ten minutes of the whole movie, and every time he shows up he gets his ass kicked. The rest of the time Bruce Wayne is trying to out-emo Spiderman 3.

I dunno, maybe you guys saw a different movie than I did.

The movie currently has a 87% favorable rating on Rotten Tomatoes from Critics and 92% from Audiences. (I know this only proves that people didn't HATE the film, not that they loved it but that's my point.)

You guys may be passionate in your hatred of the movie, and that's fine, but you guys are not the majority.

Iron Man 2 wasn't really all that great, especially when compared to the second films in the other superhero franchises (Superman, Dark Knight, X-Men, and Spidey). Meanwhile, the trailer for IM3 looks fantastic. I think it will break the curse.

See, I hated IM2 and like DKR, you liked IM2 and hated DKR. Maybe that speaks more to individuals tastes than actual quality.
