Wisc. Recall: Yay or Nay, does he stay?Media blackout?

Postby J.M. Hunter » Tue Jun 05, 2012 6:03 pm

I haven't seen too much coverage on this recall election. Is there a media blackout happening?
http://www.snetcentral.com/news11sep26-01

Rumors of voter suppression as well: "WISCONSIN RECALL ELECTION TODAY ! Numerous reports of voter suppression have come in - robo calls to signers of the petition. Recorded caller claims that SIGNERS of the petition DO NOT NEED to VOTE. This coming from ALL OVER Wisconsin."

I don't know if it's confirmed as I'm still looking for news on this.

So do you all think Walker gets the boot or is it more of the same after tomorrow?

I think he will stay, the other choice doesn't seem that great. Stick with the crook that you know.

the Government Accountability Board in Wisconsin was getting complaints about the robo calls:

http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/ar ... n_signers/

i'm hoping he gets the boot. I'm from WI, and have friends and family affected by what he's doing. If he's not recalled I won't go back to WI until he's out, baring an emergency

And another reason there isn't too much coverage, is the polls are still open. WI news media are reporting on it:

here's a link from madison earlier today: http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/ ... f887a.html

there are a LOT of people turning out, and lots of lines and waits. A lot of my friends are saying its the first time EVER they have had to wait in line at a polling place.

Regardless of the outcome of the election though it has gotten people out to vote.

I love how the Justice Department is talking up the Voting Rights Act after they pardoned the Black Panthers for voter intimidation.

I think Walker wins.

I think California has an interesting new system:

The California races are historic because they are being held under the state’s newly enacted open primary system: all candidates in all parties compete in the same first round of voting, and the top two finishers — regardless of party affiliation — advance to the next round.
In that unpredictable system, it’s entirely possible that one or more additional incumbents could fall, or be forced into difficult general-election races against challengers of the same party.

I think that's pretty cool. A third party could actually emerge from something like this. It doesn't make sense that every election pits a Rep vs. a Dem.

No way there was a media blackout. Maybe nationally it didn't get much publicity until the last month, but in Wisconsin it has been crazy.

I am sad that all the political ads will be gone now, though.
