Now here's the part that CNN fails to point out: the reason why the girl was tasered. The reason why is because she had been arrested for not one, but two hit-and-run crashes and driving without a license and during booking was actually in the process of fleeing the police station.

I guess CNN decided it'd be much harder to make the audience care about someone if people knew that said someone didn't care enough to stop and check on those that she hit with her car. The whole story, who needs it amirite? :roll:

whatever she did isn't the point
the point is that we are told that tasers are safe and effect methods for subduing suspects

This girl was unarmed and no real danger to anyone at the time of the tasering. Are cops trained to taser an unarmed person in the back? With no regard to the make-up of the ground they will hit? I don't know, but if not, whoever tasered this girl broke protocol and opened themselves, and the police department, to a massive lawsuit when it really wouldn't have been all that difficult to catch someone running through a police station.

If she wasn't unarmed - who the hell let a prisoner get a weapon - that person also is in for some issues and might need a new job

So what should the police do? Let her get away? Let her get behind the wheel of another car and injure someone else? Start a foot chase with her which would probably lead to her getting tackled thereby creating the same outcome whereby she goes face first into the pavement? You run from the police, you takes your chances IMO.

police are trained in how to subdue suspects, they do it all the time, but knocking someone out while they are standing up and cannot even break their fall (because she was still in handcuffs making it rather difficult to steal a car) is not an appropriate response, especially to a 100 lb woman who was being booked, not fore murder, not for rape, but for fleeing the scene of an accident. She was barely a step ahead of the cop who, before she got to him, had time to draw and point his taser rather than grab her.

what does it matter, cop was cleared of any wrong doing and now the people of Florida will be paying for her care for the rest of her life.

I just think cops are relying too much on the taser. Too often in these incidents, they're using it as a crutch.

This is obviously not the result the officer intended, and it was probably never anticipated. But Jesus...it seems that this is too often the result of tasers. I guess we're probably not gonna hear about instances where tasers were used to no ill effect. But the bad shit is really bad.

Shit, he literally could have just reached out and snatched her skinny little half-a-ass up.

Sure, it's sickening, but I doubt the cop thought she would fall and bang her head on the ground like that. I'm sure he expected her to freeze and convulse once she was tazered, and stop running. She just like dropped or tripped or something. Still, she shouldn't have been running away.

I feel for the cop since he's now the bad guy when the real "bad guy" is the vegetable in the hospital.

Fuck that.

Why should a cop risk any possible harm to himself in attempting to apprehend a criminal in a "nice" way. It's not like she was down and he was kicking her in the head.
