The human mind is electrical impulses, basically. Thus, all we are, all we think of as "ME"... is a form of energy.

And, as I learned in school, energy cannot be created or destroyed.

I sat up against the head board and started crying. She told me I was going to be fine and my life was going to turn out to be better than I thought it would. She told me she loved me, and then she was just gone.

It was weird since after she had vanished I was sitting up thinking that I must have imagined the entire thing, but her perfume was in my room, and it lingered there for an awefully long time.

I know I've told this story to many friends and co-workers and they all smile and say things like, "Possibly." or that condescending, "All that matters is that you believe it."

But I know it happened. I was never weirded out by it, though.
I have not had an experience quite like that but I am periodically visited by my grandparents in my dreams - especially my Nanna who died nearly 20 years ago. She was always kind of 'fey'. They always seem like more than just dreams. She is always happy and laughing and sometimes offers advice or insight. I don't talk to many people about these things, I have no desire to have to justify the experience to anyone, which often seems to be the position that I am forced into.

I told people at first and had the same reaction and was forced into the same thing, so I quit talking about it for a long time. As I've gotten older and really thought about it more, I've decided that I don't mind talking about it because I no longer care what skeptics think. I know what happened to me. It was real.

I have a really good friend who I have tried to talk to about these things a couple of times and I kind of just got a blank 'are you shitting me...' kind of look each time. I never really understood what the problem was. I was not actually asking him to believe in anything but it was a real experience to me. Eventually I just gave up, it is a very personal thing anyway.
