After Years Of Accusations Of Sexual Harassment, DC Fires Eddie Berganza

All it took was public outcry.

DC Comics has officially fired Eddie Berganza. All it took was years of accusations and a Buzzfeed article to get them to even notice. The article was released Friday and DC suspended Berganza Saturday, only to fire him Monday. The publisher gave the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have terminated the employment of DC Comics Group Editor Eddie Berganza. We are committed to eradicating harassment and ensuring that all employees, as well as our freelance community, are aware of our policies, are comfortable reporting any concerns and feel supported by our Company."

Berganza was previously promoted to group editor, despite having his sexual harassment allegations out in the open time after time after time.

It took way too long for this to happen. Reset the clock.

He was never really a good editor to begin with.

Yeah. What makes it even creepier is back when DC had a decent kids lineup he was in charge, I think.,

it did happen on his watch.

I bet it was super uncomfortable watching him clean out his office. Maybe they hire interns to pack it up and security escorts him from the building. Maybe they did it while everyone else was at lunch, and then they came back he was just gone.

Let's face it: It also took the potential billion-dollar franchise of the DCEU movies and the potential ratings of the so-called "Arrowverse" TV shows. And it took the current climate of such utter loathing for such people that a spotlight of shame is actively seeking out all of them.

When DC could be considered "A Mostly Forgotten, Backwater Division of Warner Bros. - A Deeply-Buried Time Warner Company", Warners could afford to not care about Berganza. Now that they're trying to make "DC Entertainment" a major entertainment imprint, and sell a mediocre Justice League movie and 4 equally middling TV series to millions of viewers, they can't afford to keep him anymore.

They better not touch anything in his office, and use bleach to get it really clean...

I think I'd have been happier with Didio getting fired and Berganza staying. I've said my peace on why firing Berganza for something he did in the past and was already punished for isn't the best idea. And from what I understand the new article about Berganza doesn't reference any new incidents. It was Didio and the others at the top who allowed the situation to get that bad in the first place. As I recall, Warner Bros actually had to step in and do their job for them after an incident at Wondercon. Cleansing upper management will do far more than firing Berganza ever will.

Jesus, I hate that. No warning, just "Oh, Bob's gone. The HR vampire must have got him."

Finally.

Now how long until he is hired back as a consultant at double rates pay? Because we know DC can't resist fucking up.

Any excuse to fire the Didiot is a good excuse.

This is far from finished. We can't forget that DC's upper-management folks were very complacent with Berganza's behaviour. There was a great deal of cowardice in the affair.

I think this won't end well for them. There will be more shit hitting the fan in the near future.
