The Amazing Spider-Man, one of Marvel's most beloved and longest running titles, was announced as canceled with issue #700 in the December solicitations.
Source: Marvel December Solicitiations Finally, Marvel has decide to put an end to the mischevious adventures of that wall-crawling criminal, Spider-Man! The masked menace, who first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962 and broke out into his own series, The Amazing Spider-Man, in 1963, has been terrorizing the streets of New York City with his vigilante antics for fifty years. The actions of the web-slinger have attracted a seemingly infinite number of costumed lunatics who have wreaked havoc in the city in attempts to engage Spider-Man in combat. More importantly, true heroes like astronaut John Jameson are frequently ignored by the press, despite their actions being far more admirable and important than those of that arachnid asshole.
While the Outhouse has been one of the few internet publications to speak the truth about Spider-Man, most websites have praised Amazing Spider-Man and its various spinoff books over the years. Finally, it seems, Marvel Comics has seen the light, as they announced in their most recent solicitations that Amazing Spider-Man #700 is the series' final issue. Hopefully, this will be the end of Spider-Man, and is not simply indicative of an impending Marvel NOW! Spider-Man relaunch announcement which will result in seven new Spider-Man books, four of which will co-star Wolverine.
