Now there's a character I basically forgot about until I read this thread. From what I remember she's basically a female porn-star version of Zorro.

I got the first mini of her which came out in the 90s. ANd I recall this one part, not sure excatly what she was doing, but it was drawn in such away that it looked like you saw her nipple, it was a different color the rest of her skin, I think she was changing outfits.

Conclusion: all male heroes should wear a speedo.

If that's her costume, that's her costume.

I think it's empowering.

Moving along.

Is it just me, or is Dynamite coming across as a new version of 90s Image? I mean that in that it's seems like there's more style than substance in what they're publishing for the most part.

Not really. For the most part, their line seems to me to be pretty good. They've craved themselves a nice niche with the pulp heroes, and added other properties as well. I'd say this is an outlier. Also, there's far fewer pouches...

With ease and availability of free porn on the "internets", why do people even feel the need to buy crap like this?

The entire Zenescope publishing line (and Dynamite is catching up) survives off the fact that half its readership is too timid to surf porn and masturbate at the public library computer system. And the other half simply prefers hand-drawn cartoon women who are willing to dominate them like barbarians because anything can happen in fantasy.

:outhouse: All right, all right. I'm just raging against raunchy comics. Remember in the 80s when "Indies" meant comics for hipster snobs (ps. I was a hipster snob...) who needed to believe they were reading "literature", not entertainment? Nowadays, Indies are predominantly skinemax titles on the top shelf bought by overweight men in trench coats. :outhouse:

EDIT:
Maybe I should stifle the rage. Dynamite does Vampirella, right? Inside the book she wears regular clothing, despite the ultra sexy covers. "Lady Rawhide" will probably wear regular cowboy clothes inside the book.... granted, what does that say for the folks the cover attracts, versus the folks the cover drives away?

OK, something is very, very wrong with her left tit. I think it's breast cancer and a tumor that big is bound to explode any day now...

Underhill-Mister wrote:The smartest and CLASSIEST comic-reading women that I know have said repeatedly that they DO NOT CARE how a character looks physically or how she is dressed, they care about how she is depicted, her personality and background. They LAUGH at the girl-power blogs who think they're feminist in making an issue of costume or unrealistic bodies but champion misogynist writers and demeaning origins and characterization.

Maybe the Outhouse should take the criticism to heart, if your joke isn't getting the reaction you expect, rather than repeating it louder, consider that it missed the mark, that YOU have missed the mark, and aim your wit at something that really is more of a problem.

This article is a year old. I think we're doing just fine.
