Smith takes over as artist in October along with another surprise announcement.

Source: DC Press Release

DC Comics has announced that starting in October with Earth 2 #27, Andy Smith will take over the art chores from Nicola Scott. The second announcement is that with that  same issue Marguerite Bennett joins Tom Taylor as writing partner.

No further word on why Taylor and Bennett will be working as a team. In the past when this has happened, the initial Writer later left. If DC continues this trend then that could mean that eventually  Bennett would continue later as sole Writer. We'll keep you updated if more information on this becomes available.

Smith spoke highly of Nicola Smith's contributions to this title:

“I want to say a huge thank you to Nicola for everything she's brought to Earth 2 and for everything she leaves behind. Nic has spent years helping to shape an entire world and its heroes."

The folks over at ComicVine have an exclusive interview with Taylor and Smith that provides a bit more detail on their approach to the heroes of Earth 2.  Be sure to check it out here.

Below take a look at the cover to Earth 2 #27 by Gary Frank (courtesy of DC) which goes on sale October 8, 2014.

Agreed But having one of my fave artists replaced by another of my faves is a good switch. So I'm cool with it. 8)

Taylor is on Facebook, he gave very credible reasons: "As Injustice goes back to weekly and the TV series takes every other second of my day (and something else secret will be announced soon), I'm happy to say another friend and great talent, Marguerite Bennett, will be joining me in writing Earth 2!"

Next post: I said there was Deep news coming. Well, the secret is out.
Over the weekend at Oz Comic-Con, Gestalt Comics announced "The Deep: The Voyages of the Aronnax".
So excited for this prequel series, and Daryl Toh's art is gorgeous.
More news soon. Click the link for all the other amazing Gestalt Comics on the horizon in the full Behind the Panels report - Including new works from Justin Randall, Andrew Constant and Christian Read and a team up between the man himself, Wolfgang Bylsma, and James Brouwer!

How does Bennett keep getting work at DC? All of her solo written stuff has been terrible, Yet she keeps getting co writing gigs that just prove she was never ready for the job in the first place.

Andy Smith? The Bart Sears wannabee that ruined Quasar?

This does not bode well.

If his style is still like these pencils he's done before he should fit in fine.

Just so long as he finally figured how to draw a jaw.

I know it's probably not fair for me to judge him on a book that was done over a decade ago - but he left a (negative) impression that's lasted.

Hopefully this will free Nicola up to do some more Indy work. Maybe something I can stomach reading this time, which was not the case for Earth 2.
