No, actually she said she couldn't.

"Logan.

Logan, I was wrong.

I thought I could, but I can't I can't, it's too much, Logan, it's too much."

Probably because her buddy Iron Man just blasted the shit out of The Phoenix on the previous page.

A lot of soldiers that don't want to storm the beach, tell themselves and their superiors that they "can't". Hope's a coward who has put her buddies at risk by not fulfilling her duty.

I don't agree with everything the X-Men are doing, but I'm on their side. Historically, the Avengers just haven't been there for mutants.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

I was referring to Hope's dialogue from page 18. :?

When it finally arrived, she just didn't want it.
Proof is imminent...

Yeah. That came after she already told Logan she couldn't control even the fraction of the force that she had access to, and told him to kill her.

She didn't want it, because she couldn't control it.

That's how I used to feel when I would shoot a speedball, but after a few minutes I wanted another one.

And she said she couldn't control it, before Stark blew it up, so its not the avengers fault she couldn't control it. She said she couldn't control it right after she had the flare up of it that burned Wolverine badly. She asked him to kill him. He was going to and what does Scott do, stop him. Wasn't he all about her having a choice a few issues ago?? so she says she can't control it, and wolverine does exactly like he promised her he'd do, and scott doesn't let her make her own choice. So she has a choice when it works in scotts favor, but when she chooses something that is not what scott want's she doesn't??

Hope spends the first pages agonizing over the humans she may be responsible for killing, then yelling at everyone to STOP! She didn't exactly put in a solid effort before calling it quits. Sure Cyclops is taking the decision out of her hands, he's supposed to just let her die?

She didn't want it because she wasn't good at it right away. It reminds me of The Last Temptation of Christ, Hope choose not to fulfill her destiny and now things have gone sideways with her team mates getting possessed. Seems like Hope's going to have to get back on track to set things right.

And THIS side is the one you guys are defending? The side which throws unwilling kids at a cosmic entity to do what they want them to do? What a bunch of heroes those X-Men are, right here.

The more you try justifying Cyke's actions, and trying to dig for reasons why Hope may have done what she did.. the weaker your position is.

Like I said - you're reaching for things that aren't there and trying to assign motivations and reasonings that are nothing but what you think is happening.

The character assassination of Cyclops is so horrible at this point. Marvel went and turned him into Hal Jordan in the 90's unfortunately. The only thing that is needed right now is the fear entity to possess him.

They should just let Gillen write all of the X-Men's dialogue in this event. Maybe then they won't undergo Tony Stark/Civil War level mischaracterizations.

Hey cut the other side some slack. Whether their obstinance is intentional (as I suspect) or not, they're worth a laugh and a giggle with each new rationalization.

The poor schmucks have nothing going for them but denial and so let em reach if they want to. :-D
