Archie's Loss Is IDW's Gain With New Dick Tracy Series

An Archie Comics Dick Tracy series was announced and cancelled earlier this year.

With sales of his creator-owned series not being as high as he'd likeRich Tommaso had to get a real job and he settled in at IDW Publishing. Tommaso will handle writing and art duties on the newly announced Dick Tracy comic. Joining him is the entire Allred clan: Lee on scripting, Mike on inks, and Laura on colors.

Last December, Archie Comics announced a Dick Tracy comic with a creative team consisting of Alex Segura, Michael Moreci, and Thomas Pitilli. Then in January, Tribune Content Agency released a statement that due to a preexisting licensing deal, they wouldn't be moving forward with a Dick Tracy comic at Archie. Looks like they figured it out.

Dick Tracy #1 is set to release in September.
