Astonishing X-Men’s Marjorie Liu Praises Way’s Thunderbolts

This really happened, we din't make it up

Actual female comic book writer and Marvel’s version of Gail Simone, Marjorie Liu, finally showed some cracks in her judgment this morning when she praised universally panned Thunderbolts by Daniel Way as “neck and neck with Saga” in terms of quality.

There is no joke here, this actually happened:

Thunderbolts, a book so bad even Newsarama couldn’t fellate it, might seem like an odd choice for a celebrated writer to put at the top of her reading list, and that's because it is! This revelation does not diminish Liu’s work, but does call into question her tastes and influences, and this writer is concerned about the quality of her work moving forward if Way’s Thunderbolts is a comic she will eventually emulate.

All that being said, you should be reading Astonishing X-Men, it’s damn good.

Was misspelling Thunderbolts at least two different ways part of a joke or something?

Otherwise, mediocre writer gives warm fuzzy to fellow mediocre writer.

and no matter how you spell it, spell check hates it, so I tend to ignore the red lines

Ok, I was wondering if you were playing up your notorious creative spelling in that one as part of a joke or something.

Thunderbotls reminded me of Chipotle, which almost everyone here mispronounces. Often as Chi-pole-tays.
