Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso states officially, for the record, that there will be no reboot for the Marvel Universe.
Like jilted lovers, comic book fans have been weary of attachment since last year's DC Universe reboot turned the DCU they knew and loved into an angst-and-Liefeld-ridden tribute to the nineties, and rumors have been circulating that, following Marvel's
Avengers vs. X-Men event
, the Marvel Universe suffer the same fate. However, in an
interview with Albert Ching at Newsarama,
Axel Alonso has set the record straight:
We have some moves planned. The Marvel Universe is changed by AvX. It is not a reboot or a retcon. It is the Marvel Universe that you grew up in. But this story in many ways sort of serves as an endcap to a decade's worth of stories that we've been telling, and I think it begins a great first chapter for the next decade's worth of stories we're going to tell.Well, there you have it.
Avengers vs. X-Men will not lead to a reboot of the Marvel Universe.
This of course begs the question: will
Avengers vs. X-Men lead to a reboot of the Marvel Universe?! The suspense is killing us!
