that feels like a bit of a stretch there...it ain't like Hickman coined that phrase. it's been used countless other places, most notably with the second phrase "not with a bang, but with a whimper". since her journal also included a drawing of the Phoenix Force, i could clearly se her saying that that entity's wrath is how the world ends.

but who knows? you may be right.

The preview to one of the next issues of New Avengers showed Leonardo Da Vinci at K'un L'un, that go me thinking and then this issue solidified the theory to me.

Plus Hickman is writing a part of the main series and he does love tying all his work together.

Given that this is Bendis it should come up soon. It could be that Professor X thinks Bishop is right and asks Logan whack Hope to prevents the future that Bishop is from. He's not just taking Bishop's word for it. Madrox and Layla were there too and have the tattoos to prove it.

He's done it twice already. Once against Rachel as Phoenix and once on Jean Grey. Third time's the charm :groucho:

The "now that we have out own messiah" line was so cringe inducing. I can't believe that there are people who still think Cyclops is meant to be the 'good' side here. This issue cemented the sides, IMO.

The Avengers are in a moral grey zone, but they're doing what they think needs to be done. Cyclops is just obsessed with Hope being a messiah and fuck the consequences.

If the Avengers are wrong, there's only one person at stake. If Cyclops is wrong, it's the world.

I loved those Avengers issues that were drawn by either of the Buscema brothers. Those were fun times ! We still have many of them packed away in a box.

Yeah, that was really bad, and it took me out of the story for a minute.

Hmm, having the Phoenix destroy everything would be the perfect premise for a universe reboot.

Just sayin'.

yeah, things are definitely in place for it.

But I still don't think they'll go that route. I think it's a red herring, because at this point most people seem to think Marvel will follow suit with DC... So the surprise would be to do something different.

If Marvel do a Universal reboot I will eat my hat, they'll never do it, ever.

There's nothing to fix. Marvel's problems aren't continuity-based like DC's was. They've always been good about just fixing things on the go, like changing Iron Man's origin to the Gulf War instead of Vietnam or whatever.

A soft relaunch or something.. something like BND, may be more realistic. I could see a re-focusing of the line, with a new status quo for the entire MU coming out of this event.. but that doesn't necessarily mean a reboot.
