Notice how no one complains about how much of a dick Professor X was anymore... :groucho:

Whoever pointed out the yellow fear bug thing was right.

Scott wasn't in control of his own faculties, I mean it's lazy writing but it works. :smt102

Folks, Scott Summers has been a dick ever since the writers had him drop Madelyne Pryor like a two-dollar whore so they could do X-Factor, way back in the day.

That was one of the serious dick moves that I've ever seen a character been portrayed to do. Everything else that's come after -- somehow, I can make it all fit, because no matter what, I can't unread what I read, and I perceived Cyclops as the most selfish, self-righteous dick EVER after that move.

Reading the event, it seems that he has been pretty in-control the entire time, to the point that they made an effort to show that while others succumbed to the power-lust, Scott was the only one that has kept his personality and level head....until now. He's accountable for his actions because he was shown throughout his entire time with the Phoenix Force, to be the only one that could control it.

Yeah they went out of their way to make sure it was obvious Scott was in control the entire series. He didn't 'lose control' until he killed Xavier

That sounds crappy.

They kind of ruined Professor X back in Deadly Genesis, but he's still one of the more interesting mutants around.

The Phoenix is the villain. It's not like Scott called it to Earth, it was coming anyway.

Did Scott make some questionable decisions beforehand? Sure, who in the MU hasn't?

Cyclops: Avengers came in and they caught me red-handed
Killing the Professor next door.
Picture this I was in a really stupid outfit,
blasting him with fire to the floor.

How could I forget
That I still had fans rooting for me?
All this time they were standing there
In shock at my heinous deed.

Iron Man: How you can recover from your descent into a villain?
Betraying all th'X-Men while you brains a' sizzlin.
You better watch your back before the next event.
Best if you have a plan so alla your good will don't get spent.

To be a true player you have to know how to play
When they hate you, convince them that you're okay
Never admit to a word when they make a claim
And you tell them "Avengers, no way!"

Cyclops: But they caught me with Phoenix power.
Iron Man: It wasn't me.

Cyclops: Saw me murd'rin' the Professer
Iron Man: It wasn't me.

Cyclops: They accused me of murder.
Iron Man: It wasn't me

Cyclops: But they spoiled in a newspaper!
Iron Man: It wasn't me.

Cyclops: They saw me lookin' grim.
Iron Man: It wasn't me.

Cyclops: Heard the words as I killed him
Iron Man: It wasn't me.

Cyclops: Heard the screams getting louder
Iron Man: It wasn't me.

Cyclops: They stayed until it was over

I'd be surprised if we ever do get a "big summer block-buster event" from either of the Big Two that didn't involve character assassination, plots going off the rails, a shock value death, and fans screaming at their comics and banging on their keyboards

Nice one, Blue!

I thought the comic was good, but the problem was the art. It's not that Coipel doesn't draw well, it's that it was bad storytelling IMO. Panels were all over the place and there were times I couldn't tell what order to read. I also couldn't tell what was happening in some of the fight scenes.
