the stuff that got most of us into comics.

want to talk about jumping on a bandwagon, I'd love to see Marvel "accidentally" switch Loeb's name on a book with some one like Parker or Hickman just to see the "bitch about a Loeb book I don't read" crowd badmouth an internet darling and hype up the new book by the guy everyone has always loved...this week

X-Sanction #3 not only moved the story forward, filled in the back story very well, but it also naturally shifted from what seemed to be a fight-o-the-month book into something that becomes a fun (optional) preamble to what will probably be another over hyped meaningless event.

Every time I buy a Jeph Loeb book it's like clicking on a Nacireman thread.

I know it's going to be stupid and borderline retarded, yet occasionally I can't help it because it might lead into something good (Avengers vs. X-Men or a Newton comment).

This is a huge turd. Awful book with nice art.

also, my two cents on the Punchy-bashing:

Punch, you know good and well i've always hated you.

however, i do appreciate you running these threads out every week. for a comic-centered board, there's all too often precious little comic talk around here, and i thank you for doing your part to correct that. so good on you, youngster. keep up the sometimes almost-good work! :wink:

I am so on the fence with this book.

Its not worth buying, I know that. But I almost feel like I have to read it, because I love Cable and I think it'll have some sort of importance to AVX.

But really, I don't even think McGuiness is doing a good job here, it just looks ridiculous. Well, Cable just looks ridiculous. The rest of the art is pretty okay.

I admit, I wasn't expecting some beautifully written thinker of a comic book, but even still, I didn't expect it to be this bad. It definitely doesn't have the big stupid fun feel of the early Rulk series, which is more of what I wanted.

At least its only one more issue.

Punchy's threads are awesome. The first thing I do after reading a new book is look for the Punchy thread to share my opinion. They make he board better.

I understand if they don't fit someone's definition of review, but what I don't understand is the desire to tell Punchy so, and then to need to get him to submit in an argument about it. What's the endgame here? What's to be gained from it? At least calling him a Newton is funny. Complaining about him posting comic threads on a comic book forum just seems bitter and pointless.

Listen because after reading the stuff between Nieto and Dairy and even being called a dick I really feel I should clarify my stance here.

I don't hate Punchy (I hate Twigg who has nothing to do with this) What I dislike is the fact that a discussion thread starts with Punchy stating "this review..." when it's a discussion thread.

I'm all for open discussions of issues that have just came out. Hell, I'm the fucker who intentionally started a thread for the latest issue of X-Factor because I enjoyed it and wanted to talk about it somewhere.

I'm not going "Hey, it's open season on Punchy. I'm going to tear into him" and anyone that thinks I was doing that? Fuck that, by a lot. It's not true at all. I'd go at anyone else for starting a thread like that either.

I'd love to see other people or even Punchy doing front page reviews but at the same time I think there should be more people starting these threads because I can never get through the first post because Punchy can't seem to be bothered to space out his thoughts with the enter key.

So I guess to sum up:

1. Not painting a target sign on punchy.

2. More people need to start discussion threads on issues coming out weekly.

3. For the love of god people, the enter key is your friend!

While Punchy's one-paragraph OPs are not in depth reviews, when collected together each week into a full column(The Week in Punchy) and posted to the front page, they make a fine capsule reviews column. It would be great if more people started comics threads, but Punchy starts most of them. That's not his fault. There's nothing stopping anyone else from starting a comic thread. They just don't.
