The tooth is only shown after Bruce backhanded Dick. I can't debate you on the rest of your argument but if I hadn't already read Batman #7, I wouldn't have even known there was another tooth. This may have been an oversight but it certainly looks like they want you to believe that the tooth is Dick's.

except that they spend an entire page in Batman #7 explaining the tooth thing while standing over the Talon's body. may be that we have to lay the blame on Capullo's storytelling if they really don't show the tooth prior to the slap (i don't remember, would have to re-read)

Also can someone explain this Harper lady to me who rigged Bruce's heart at the beginning? Snyder said that an important female superhero was going to show up. That's pretty much the only one. So who the fuck is she?

that was the other problem i had with this issue. i felt like i was supposed to recognize her from earlier in the run, only i didn't. glad it wasn't just me (although sad it was just me and Zechs...)

Nah...I had no effing clue who she was, either. I assumed she was from Detective or some other book I hadn't read.

Supposedly.. this gal was in #1 when Bruce spoke and it showed Gordon, Leslie, and I think Bullock listening to his speech. I'd imagine that was were Cassandra Cain was in that panel and Snyder was forced to put this mystery character there due to editorial wanting Cass out.

I was just pointing out that nothing was said about the tooth prior to Bruce backhanding Dick in Nightwing. I know they talked about it in Batman #7 but if you were a casual reader who was just reading Nightwing and had not read Batman #7, you would have no reason to believe that was anybody's tooth but Dicks.

Okay Snyder had to tell us who this character is via Comic Vine, Harper Row. That isn't good at all.

http://www.comicvine.com/news/scott-sny ... er/144455/

Harper Row is her name and she's a character I've been thinking about for some time. I don't want to give too much away, but you'll be seeing more of her in Gotham soon - she has an important role to play in upcoming stories.

Still an annoying thing he did to make Cass/Steph or even Babs fans that those characters were to appear in this issue and instead we get.. Harold 2.0? :smt017 Or.. Damian's replacement when Morrison kills him in the Batman Inc vol. 2?

Has Dick been captured or knocked unconscious any time in the last year or so when the tooth could have been implanted at that time ?

But then why would they care about Dick enough at all to do that? Snyder's already clearly established the Court doesn't care that Bats is Bruce. They've had other Talons since Dick was supposed to be presented. Nothing about the story the way it's been told so far makes any sense for that to be the case

This issue mainly served as exposition to set up the big event coming up, but it was still awesome. I loved the way that Snyder returned to the origin, with the whole bat bursting through the window thing, and went back to show us that the bat that so inspired Bruce Wayne was immediately eaten by an owl. Heavy symbolism, but it worked very well and Capullo drew the hell out of that page. The revelation behind Talon and his link to Dick Grayson was also cool, I like how Batman had inadvertently made an enemy of the Court years ago and never knew it. Although it’s pretty ridiculous that Batman could just smack Dick in the face and knock out the exact tooth that contained the Owl coin. He’s good, but he’s not that good. This is a really great story, and I can’t wait to see it go up another level next month with ‘Night Of The Owls’. Oh yeah, and who was that girl who rescued Batman from the ice? It seemed like he knew her, but I have no idea!
