I can't buy the idea of Bruce going into Arkham and doing what he's written to have done here, it would be beyond stupid and also pointless, even dumber than killing half the Gotham police force by turning out the lights.

i like Flash a lot, but it feels pretty unimportant if that makes any difference to you. fun stories and great art though.

OTOH, if you feel like you need a Batman book, try Batman & Robin. it's the "characterization" book of the Bat-titles, and other than about 3 issues in the middle, has been as good as (and IMMO, often better than) Snyder's Batman. and the Annual from last week...one of the best single-issue Bat-stories in my recent memory. you really should pick that one up on its own regardless of whether you get the rest of the series or not. it's that good.

Glad to hear the Wonder Woman praise.

Also, chap, "unimportant" could entice me to read a DC book, because that means it has less chance of being drawn into any of the bullshit that's currently making the rest of the New 52 so unstable.

I like Tomasi a lot, so I'd be down to give that a try. Did you like Layman's Detective at all, chap? It seemed to carry a lot of the humor and style of Chew.

The next panel should be Alfred saying, "You did WHAT?! @#$#%^!" and then him limping out the front door with a hastily packed suitcase.

i honestly have not given Detective a try yet. appeared to be too Penguin-centric, and i really feel like i'm getting my Bat-fix from Batman, B&R, Inc., and Nightwing already.

and if you're cool with "unimportant" (which i am too), then yeah, Flash would be worth a try. artistically the best book at DC hands down, and the stories have been fun too.

Copied from the old Zechs thread:

I knew Snyder was a one track writer on Batman and this proves it. Ever since his Detective run he just turns all characters into unstable lunatics doing sick and delraved things while Batman rages until the climax where the bad guy decides to endlessly monologue worse than a Bendis character in order to set up the cliched Snyder 'shocking gruesome freakish twist'.

All he can do is dark and twisted. No depth whatsoever.

It made sense and didn't mention Cass or Steph. Zechs clearly had someone else do his homework for him that time!

This felt way too similar to the ending of The Court of Owls. Bruce faces badguy. They both monologue. Bad guy escape under circumstances where he may be alive or dead. Bruce has a heart-to-heart with Alfred. The end. How about shit just has a solid resolution for once?
