They're debuting in 52...I assume they'll get their own book or mini-series.

I think one of them is. Not sure though.

Either way, if Morrison writes it, then I'll buy it. If he just creates the characters and leaves them for someone else to write, fuck it.

I think the Great Ten look really good. Batwoman can get straight to fuck, however.

Explain the second one?

I'm going for the Great Ten. Great concept.

Batwoman doesn't interest me at all. Somehow I think Devin Grayson is going to write it at some point, too. I'm kind of pissed that Montoya will seemingly become second-tier to her now, as "Batwoman's girlfriend."

English slang: it means the character can fuck right off.

Not trying either. Not so sure about Great Ten, but Batwoman seems like a blatant play for tokenism. Someone made a decision to bring back Batwoman, and someone (else maybe) wanted to do a homosexual character as a major character. I missed Montoya's coming out party, which I'm glad for. It's not very original...the tough lady cop is gay. And what makes her girlfriend qualified to be Batwoman? Bruce spent years gaining the physical, mental, and spiritual skills to be Batman. Dick was part of a world-class acrobatic family when he became Robin. Jason and Tim trained for a good long time with Bruce before becoming Robin. You move away from them, and suspension of belief starts to erode. Once you start putting all these people out from the Bat-family, they lose those qualities that make them believable. They should be the exception, not one on every corner.

Great Ten...seems like this is coming out of nowhere. Doesn't DC have a big enough stable that they don't need to be inventing new countries' worth or heroes?

This I have an answer for that

best of my knowledge after IC or sometime during 52, supeheroes are rrequired to stay in their own country.

This is China's team.

Batwoman... worst character ever, regardless of the tokenism.

Great Ten? Average, some of the ideas seem to be trying too hard to be 'out there'.

But I'm getting 52, so it seems I'll at least have their first appearances, joy.

"Eh" to both. Need more information before I decide to like them or dislike them but at the moment I'm indifferent to them.

Well, that sounds...odd. Where does Martian Manhunter go?

Does DC really think there's going to be interest in reading about a team of Chinese superheroes that operate in China?

One thing I didn't like where their names. It's like reading a bad translation of a Chinese menu. They took the most literal translations and just put them on the page. The same thing happens to Japanese. There's a commercial that gets played on some of the talk radio I listen to (ESPN, mostly)...or maybe it's an infomercial, for a product called Super Prostate Formula. I can't really remember what it does, because every time it comes on, all I can think of is that it sounds like some product advertised in Japan, but with bad English translation. Like Super Giant Robo Hunter...that's what the literal translation would be, but a better translation might be Mecha Hunter, or Mecha Ranger, which contains the same concepts as the literal translation, but doesn't evoke the clumsiness of a poor translation.

Then again, a good writer can make even lame characters interesting. I'll see what people think of it when it comes out.

But I probably still won't get it, unless it's really amazing. Budget and all. Vicki seriously suggested we only get comics that she also reads, and that's really not a bad thing. Otherwise, I'd probably be spending more than we should on comics.
