BOOM! Wants To Remind You Of The Babe With Labyrinth Comic

The first issue is set to release in February.

Source: Entertainment Weekly

BOOM!'s imprint Archaia will publish an ongoing series inspired by the 1986 film Labyrinth. The comic, written by Si Spurrier and drawn by Daniel Bayliss, will focus on the origins of Jareth The Goblin King, portrayed cinematically by David Bowie. It follows his beginnings as told to baby Toby.

"It's the backstory of how Jareth came to be in the Labyrinth himself," says Lisa Henson, the daughter of Jim, and CEO and President of The Jim Henson Company. "The Goblin King, he's not a goblin, he's human. Many people have asked, 'Well, how did he get there?' So, that's something that we thought we would explore."

The first issue is set to release in February with a cover by Fiona Staples, a subscription cover by Rebekah Isaacs, and variant covers by Laurent Durieux, Jill Thompson, and Bill Sienkiewicz.

So they are adapting the video for Bowie's "Underground" track from the soundtrack? I thought that it was, broadly speaking, canon already.

Oh well, it has to be better than the Return to the Labyrinth manga series that Tokyo Pop put out.
