I have to say I really love getting my box after the third Wednesday of the month. It certainly helps me avoid a late December box. Kudos to DCBS.

I have to say: it's been a long time since I had this many Marvel books on my pull list, and with the exception of Spider-Man, they're all great. I'm especially loving Hickman's take on the Avengers.

Yep - having now read #1 and #2 of Avengers, Hulk, Fantastic Four and FF, I have to say that Marvel's relaunch beats the stuffing out of DCs (as I say that as someone who has historically favoured the latter). Looking forward to Young Avengers and Wolverine now...

That said, I sat and read Amazing Spider-Man #698-700 in one sitting, and it was worse than I thought it would be. Poorly plotted, poorly scripted, poorly thought-through and apparently drawn by an ADD-afflicted seven-year-old on a sugar rush. This was not Marvel honouring their flagship character, this was clown shoes. The Avengers, the FF, Hulk, Daredevil, Thor... these books all got proper writers and artists: why couldn't Spider-Man? And you know, I understand the necessity to shake things up once in a while, but was it really necessary to find the dumbest, most logic-defying way to do it?

And yeah, I just heard what the big twist at the end of Superior Spider-Man #1 is. Two words: fuck off.

yeah I expect not to like this storyline but I want to see how far bad it goes. I can see this being like the Clone Saga, a good idea in theory but it went too far than it should.

I am so far behind on books that I need to do some major catch up. I just need to get through spider-man so I can avoid spoilers and just be able to say one way or another if I like it.

After they nullified Peter and Mary Jane's wedding, it was obvious to me that nobody in the Marvel brain trust has any idea what to do with Spider-Man. I thought people thought Dan Slott was a good writer? I guess not at this point...

I got my box for the month already, which seems like a week early as there are two more Wednesdays this month. But then I remembered that there have already been 3 Wednesdays in the month and they ship after the third Wednesday.

That means for the first time I didn't get all of the month's Valiant titles since two are scheduled to ship next week.

I have to say that the Paul Pope One Trick Rip-Off HC is stunningly beautiful.

I also love the art in the new Star Wars ongoing from Brian Wood and Carlos D'Anda. I've never seen D'Anda's art before, but with the heavy inking by D'Anda and strong coloring by Gabe Eltaeb, it strongly reminds me of Seth Fisher's gorgeous work.
