Brubaker's Daredevil

Postby MoneyMelon » Tue Sep 30, 2008 10:25 am

I reach a few issues of this that my friend let me borrow from him, including the Mr. Fear story.

I have to say I was really impressed with this. It reads really well in one sitting too.

Really sad ending, though :(

Brubaker gets a bad break on his Daredevil stuff because it's almost impossible to top what Bendis did with the character, but I still think it's a good book.

I really like it.

At some parts I like it more than Bendis' run.

The story Brubaker and Rucka wrote was awesome and I really enjoyed the first issue of the Lady Bullseye arc.

I've yet to finish Bendis' run so I haven't started this yet. Really looking forward to it, I miss Michael Lark.

I like Bru's Daredevil.

I loved Bendis' run though. So yeah, I guess his run does get somewhat of a bad rap because of the enormously high expectations. But it was an almost seamless transition on both writing and art style.. the only issue, and it's pretty small because I still enjoy it, is that the story is moving too slow. It felt like that Mr. Fear arc dragged on a bit.

Love it. Brubaker can take as long as he wants on this book for all I care.

It read well in one sitting.

I'm starting to wait until story arcs are over before I read them with a lot of books these days.

I like doing that too.

It really makes the storyline read a lot better and a lot of the times I can't remember what's happened in the previous issue if I read them individually.

Yeah, I find I enjoy the stories more and they're more memorable that way.

When I read stuff month to month, sometimes it just kind of blurs.

I loved the way Brubaker wrote the Punisher in that story.

I don't think Brubaker has yet to top that arc, and he focused on the complete Mr. Fear story for about 8 issues. This Lady Bullseye arc has promise though -- it read very well, and Daredevil + The Hand = Awesome.
