Siege: Secret Warriors
Event tie-ins suck. Blah blah blah.
I didn't hate this. In fact I kind of liked it. The second page being a flashback to the end of the fantastic Oeming/Foreman mini-series helped. When Ares is resurrected, they'd better bring back the mohawk dammit. Character wise, I thought this was a pretty solid read. In terms of shit happening and how it relates to the overall event and the ongoing Secret Warriors series meant fuck all, but so what? Fury hitting a flask mid battle is at least more entertaining than people standing around watching the Sentry be a douchenozzle. Was Phobos killing dozens of Secret Service Agents to leave a note for the POTUS silly? Yep, but Phobos breaking out his katana to do it was still neat. Will I remember this comic a year from now when I re-read it in a trade? Probably not, but it wasn't the worst 10 minutes of my life either.
The art was serviceable. Jose Villarrubia made it look better than it would have otherwise. If nothing else, at least it doesn't have the crazy misplaced copy and paste Reed Richards hair that Sal Larroca botched in this week's IIM #25.
Story: 7.5
Art: 7
Overall: 7
