I never thought I'd say this about an "Extreme Studios" book, but OH HELL YES!

Image

PROPHET #21
story BRANDON GRAHAM
art SIMON ROY
cover MARIAN CHURCHLAND
variant cover ROB LIEFELD
JANUARY 18
32 PAGES / FC / T+
$2.99
The distant future Earth is inhabited by alien settlers that feed off of the ape-men mankind has devolved into. John Prophet awakes from cryosleep on a mission to restart the human empire.

As some of you may recall, I'm a HUGE Brandon Graham fan. He's not going to be everybody's cup of tea (he has a fondness for puns that can get...tiring) but he's an incredible idea-generator and a fun story teller. Admittedly, his art is what really makes him stand out and he's not drawing this, but based on the preview pages I don't think anyone's gonna complain. In fact, I don't know how you don't read those preview pages and not immediately put it on your pull list. Check out the preview pages here: http://royalboiler.wordpress.com/2011/1 ... ing-world/

It gets better day by day, the search function has all the bugs fixed now by the looks of it, but I completed my order with MOC and DCBS and compared and I'm going with DCBS with a saving of $25 and a faster shipping option which has my books to me in 4 days!

Took me three hours over two days to get my cart corrected and placed the order. Damn pull list pulled all variants for every title that I had, and the site is only a 1 to 1 delete so it took forever to delete 100+ issues.

Still, its done and looking at malcolm reynolds order I see that I missed Atomic Robo! :smt013

Well I did send MOC an email explaining my disappointment.

I don't even order from MOC but somehow I'm in their system. I presume y'all got this e-mail from Mitch. It sounds like they got some of the kinks worked out. I was also thinking that their pull list would probably grab a bunch of stuff people didn't want too (like variants) and I see that's the case. But DCBS's pull list works much the same way with respect to variants (and it doesn't pull similarly titled books, so I can't have the Previews catalog on my pull list for example).

Hey everyone,

I wanted to let all of you know that we've got our new site up and running, and we've got most of the kinks worked out. I want to urge all of you to please check out the new site and let us know what you think and as a thanks, we're giving you guys an extra 5% off of your order of a $100 or more this month with the coupon code NEWSITE!

1. I want to let you know about some of the changes in how we process our orders in the new site, because a lot of things work differently than they have in the past. The first thing I want to bring to your attention is that our website no longer stores our customer's billing information, so we can't place your order for you automatically at the end of the month, you will need to commit your cart before the due date passes. This may seem like a big pain, but I promise it's for a good cause. If a smart hacker found a way to bust into our site and stole some of your credit card information, that would be the end of us and then we'd have sad faces all around.

2. Our pull list system now works a little bit differently than it did on the other site. Your pull list is now driven by key words that you enter to your list instead of pull file tiles. This should stop titles from dropping off of your list if the publisher changes the name slightly. Those of you who have been getting Incredible Hulk and then missed some issues when Marvel changed the title to Incredible Hulks, you'll never have this problem again. So when a new catalog is uploaded to the site, your key words will pull items from the new catalog that match those words into your pull list (right now, it's pulling some items it shouldn't but my programmer is working on tightening up how the key words work) and you can review the items and remove anything you don't want. Once you're ready to commit your order for the month, there is a button at the bottom of your pull list that moves the items from your pull list into your cart where you can commit your order for the month. Heads up though, once you commit your order, you will not be able to edit it any more, but you will be able to place additional orders (which we will merge together of course ^_^). Oh, and another thing about the cart, if you leave items in your cart, they will stay there until you remove them, the cart will not clear itself of items until the cut-off date has past.

3. Variants are now visible as orderable items, but you'll have to order enough of the regular covers to add the variant to your cart. If you're curious how many copies of the regular cover you need to order to qualify, just click the pre-order button and the site will prompt you with the total you'll need to qualify.

4. We are no longer offering free Previews when you place an order of $150 or more, but we will be posting digital copies of Previews, Marvel Previews, and the Previews order booklet on the website available to download for free, for everyone! It's not up yet, but we'll certainly have the new previews catalog up when we get it in. I know a lot of you are leary of digital downloads in comics (and so are we!), but if we can save some trees, I think we should give it a try.

5. We're also going to be merging our back issue site into mailordercomics.com so here in the near future, you should be able to order back issues and in stock graphic novels and have them added to your next MOC shipment. It's not quite ready to go yet, but we're working on it as fast as we can.

Sincerely,

Mitch Meyer

Yeah it was in my spam folder, so I missed the 5% off.

Can't you cancel your order and redo it with the discount? 5% is a big number for your order. Isn't that like $80 or something? :)

By the way, it would be great if they post a PDF of the actual catalog. It would also be about time. There is no reason to charge for that beast to be printed every month and for me to have to pay a red cent for it.

Considering what it took me last time to get the cart in order, nope, but I have sent an email about getting the 5% applied.

I sent an e-mail last week about getting my address changed on my previous orders and didn't receive a response. First time I've ever not received a response on something from MOC.

I e-mailed them again this morning about that and getting the 5% off added to my order. If I don't get a response in 24 hours I guess I'll call them. It's really irritating that you can't edit your existing order in the new system. :smt011

If nothing else, I hope they at least get rid of that fugly Judge Dread background soon.

From what I've hear on the MOC site they are getting slammed with 'issues' no surprise but they did not expect this many issues as they had so there is a lot of scrambling. Also not really a great idea to send a 5% where there was only a week left for orders.

I just realized the pending credits I had on the old site are nowhere to be found as well.

Off with another e-mail. :?

Typically anyone with an ounce of sense will test something like this before putting the live version out there.

At the very least you have to figure they never tried loading the customer database to the system prior to launching the site.

I keep finding myself looking for Pluck logos.

100% agree. I'm very disappointed with the new site. Some of the complaint that DCBS had is now present to MOC site, and there is too much clicking. . all actions are 1 to 1, delete a book click once, add to cart click once, add to pull click once.
