It's a manageable month.

Absolute Top 10! :smt007 :smt007 :smt007

Nice to finally see the 11th Vagabond VizBig get solicited. After checking in on Inoue's blog it sounds like he's healthy and doing well.

Midas wrote:I can' believe I'm seriously considering the X-Force Omnibus Marvel is soliciting next month, but these *were* the comics of my young adulthood....

Turns out I did have most of the comics collected in this omnibus. And I've been re-reading them. You know what? They're really not that bad. Or at least, they weren't bad for their time. In a way, they were definitely new and exciting. They were just so ridiculously over-the-top. And I really appreciate their verve. Liefeld's art IS terrible, but again it was such an amazingly new thing at the time that it seemed cutting edge. I'm very glad we've moved well past these types of comics both from an art and from a storytelling perspective, but I did enjoy them 20 some years ago and find that I still enjoy them today.

This is getting bought. So is Iron Man, meaning Midas is going over budget and will have to pay for it severely in the coming months. Fortunately, next month is looking like I might be able to make a dent in my deficit.

Fourth post in a row.... Sigh I miss the good old days.

Here's my October order. It's very small, since I had to pay for that X-Force Omnibus from last month...

ESSENTIAL X-MEN TP VOL 11
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG (NEW) #5 REG ZIRCHER CVR
SHADOWMAN (NEW) #2 REG ZIRCHER CVR
HARBINGER (ONGOING) #7 SUAYAN CVR
BLOODSHOT (ONGOING) #6 REG LOZZI CVR
X-O MANOWAR (ONGOING) #8 BRAITHWAITE CVR
EC JACK DAVIS TAINT MEAT ITS HUMANITY HC (C: 0-1-2)
EC WILLIAMSON 50 GIRLS 50 & OTHER STORIES HC (C: 0-1-2)

Next month has lots of neat stuff, like a West Coast Avengers Omnibus (a very underrated book, especially while Engelhart was writing it). There will also be a new Paul Pope HC from Image, which is a can't miss. I'm also digging the new Brian Wood Star Wars. It will be very interesting to see Wood's takes on these characters.

I hope you're taking advantage of all the Valiant Bundles DCBS has been doing. Get all the book for 50% off. Its actually been consistent.

And yes I haven't been here lately. LOL blame my abhorent need to watch CNN during this election season, laziness in actually reading comics, and my OCD need to check websites in a particular order every day and by the end of the day I never make it here! (Don't worry, I don't make it to most message boards with this scenario nowadays :D )

Hey Evan. Nice to see somebody else in this thread. It sure ain't what it used to be, but it's always great to see you carrying on the tradition.

I am definitely taking advantage of the Valiant Bundle. I hesitated one month over cover selections but quickly got over that. I have to say that the Valiant books continue to be great across the board. And they have hit just about every (if not every) shipping date they've set for themselves so far, which I think is frankly amazing. They are a well-run company putting out extremely high quality work. I hope they keep it up and I hope they are rewarded with growth and critical praise.
