by Lord Ice » Mon Feb 03, 2014 8:58 pmMeanwhile DCBS just changed for Feb. orders. They'll probably get a huge rise on orders.
by GOSD » Mon Feb 03, 2014 9:35 pm
I hope they can handle the extra workload..
by Midas » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:46 amThey seemed to have handled catching all the MOC'ers up without missing a beat on month-end shipments (at least, I haven't heard of issues yet) so I'm hopeful they can do it.
by Midas » Tue Feb 04, 2014 11:05 amWow. That didn't take long. The days of 50% off all Marvel and DC trades/HCs at DCBS appears to be over. Now I'm not so sure about that Infinity Gauntlet Omni or that Sin City Omni either.
by Arion » Tue Feb 04, 2014 3:17 pm
And not only that. It's been over a year since the last time I saw a first issue of either Marvel or DC with a 75% discount.
Am I the only one who remembers how in the good old days every month you could buy 2.99 or 3.99 titles for 0.74 or 0.99 ?
by amlah6 » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:18 pm
Yeah, my January box was shipped over the weekend.
by amlah6 » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:20 pm
As Mitch Myers will tell you, MOC customers ruin everything.
by Arion » Wed Feb 05, 2014 1:55 pm
They should hire more people now that there is an increase in workload.
by Midas » Wed Feb 12, 2014 1:58 pmWell, thanks to the end to 50% discounts on all Marvel trades, I'm going to skip getting that Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus. I do already have the trade at least so maybe not a great loss. I'm also going to skip the Sin City "omnibus" as its too darn expensive and kills my budget. So I went from being potentially way over budget (if either of those 2 books was 50% off, I would have bought them budget or no budget) to being under my budget, which gave me room to pick up Vol. 2 of Saga. I was really hesitant to pick up Saga. I didn't believe it could be as good as some people were saying, and I was sorta buying into the "backlash" argument. Turns out I really, really enjoyed the first volume and very much looking forward to seeing how this story unfolds. Is it a bit hipsterish/too clever in its dialogue? Maybe. But its very well done so that doesn't bother me (and I like this type of dialog when it's done well--I love Fraction's Hawkeye and Ryan North's Dinosaur Comics, for example). I highly recommend it if any of y'all were on the fence...

Not for singles. Amazon still hasn't tried that market (no idea if they ever will). For trades, it still depends. They do better then DCBS for IDW that's for sure (because they still haven't bumped it up to 40% off like the rest of the front of the catalog. Which they really should do by now!) And sometimes they might best a price for a Dark Horse book that's rare. They usually come very close to matching it.
As for Amazon's free shipping, the bump up to $35 minimum to get it really pissed a lot of people off.

Ummmmm I saw all the Marvel and DC HC's still at 50% off.
Correction I just double checked, it is just DC this month. I bet they'll alternate.
by Evan Meadow » Thu Feb 13, 2014 3:33 am
The bundles are the new to get around it. Which isn't that bad really. You get a heck of a lot more items at 50% off then normal. The bad part is, you may get a few books extra you didn't want in the first place. But I'll try to trade those in for credit later on.

I think you're right. That's nice but for a year there it was 50% off trades for both every month. And the month they decide to switch winds up being a month that I really, really could have used the extra discount. Oh well. This actually works out. Saved me from buying a book I didn't really need and spending money I didn't really have.
by Midas » Thu Feb 13, 2014 9:10 am
I chuckle that you buy just about everything from pretty much every other publisher but Marvel gets the cold shoulder from you. I guess you have to draw the line somewhere but I think it really says something about Marvel that you don't get almost any of their main universe books. Maybe all it says is that you don't want to keep up with both their universe and DC's and so you chose DC. But dang.
