The HC special this month is awesome...

It's July and, WOW, WE'RE EXCITED!!

This month we're celebrating our Nation's independence AND Heroes Corner turns 1 year!

Putting these two events together has made this the month for the BEST DISCOUNTS of the year.

What could we do? Well, what do you get when you mix "freedom" with a birthday? How about FREE and MORE FREE!

Because of this great Nation and our members, Heroes Corner continues to grow and improve each month. To show our thanks to the membership for choosing Heroes Corner to provide them with their comic and fantasy needs, we're mixing February 4th 1776 with a little HC panache!

Here's how it will work folks. In honor of 1776, for every $17.76 spent on comics* (including trades) we'll discount a comic in your shopping cart to free!

It's simple.

$17.76 = 1 free comic
$35.52 = 2 free comics
$53.28 = 3 free comics
$71.04 = 4 free comics
$88.80 = 5 free comics

So on, and so forth... there is no limit. We hope you get the idea.

You'll receive your qualifying comics discounted to FREE after we review your order. We'll then send you an email letting you know how many comics were marked down free**, and your new order total.

Let the celebration begin!

That's a wacky yet enticing deal. Have you started to get books from them yet or are you still ordering blind?

Ordering blind.

I did get a Previews catalog and some free comics from them a few weeks ago though.

They shipped it on a Wednesday and it showed up on Friday. I'm hoping that carries over to the big shipments too.

Did your BOC ever show up?

I just put in my September order over at DCBS and I noticed that there's no Avengers/Invaders solicit. Anyone hear anything about this or is it just a case of the usual comic book lateness?

I'm pretty sure it's late.

I'm getting it too and I don't have it in my cart.

Just got an email from Heroes Corner and it looks like All-Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder #12 has been canceled and is going to be re-solicited at a later date.

I say it's going to be at least a year.

Yep, got it Saturday.

Anyone else getting a warning when trying to access MOC? I'm getting some crazy Google Alert I've never seen before. Either the reloading of their scripts that they sent out the e-mail on this morning went badly or they've been hacked.

Here are the screen shots...

Click the "why was it bloced" button and this is what shows up...

Oooh, I didn't get that! (edit:I'm getting it now)
MoC is planning of doing some upgrades so they're moving to a new server or something.

I couldn't log in all weekend and my email isn't even recognized when I do the whole "forget password?" thing.

I emailed Michael and he emailed me back about the migration to the new server hitting some problems.
Then I got a mass email this morning.

Good morning!

Some of you have sent word to us about our website being down. I want to apologize for the extra time some of you took in trying access the site over the 4th of July holiday weekend. The hosting company we work with experienced a drive failure very late Friday and replaced the drive late Saturday. However, when the backup was restored, some of the javascript that pulls in catalog data and the ability to connect to the SQL server was disabled. Because of the long holiday weekend, we could not get anyone to come in to work through the weekend to have this fixed. We’ll have our programmers on it all day today to get things restored to normal. I just wanted to alert anyone that has not yet checked the site to place their July order that they may want to wait until either late this evening or even Tuesday to check back with the site. The repair could take 20 minutes and be an easy fix or we may need to write a few new routines which may take 24 – 48 hours. Rest assured we are
working diligently to have this up and running as quickly as possible. And, as a reminder, we will be transitioning to a new hosting solution here in mid-July that will allow a MUCH quicker response time for the site so we are very excited about that.

Thanks so much again, everyone, for your patience, and do let me know if you need anything from me outside of the website access. As you can tell, our e-mail and other back-end functions are still fully operational.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Michael Robinson

I e-mailed Michael and he's looking into it. It's probably just something the programmers did when they were putting the site back together this morning.
