I've been re-reading some of my trades lately to see if my opinion of them has changed. I enjoyed Selina's Big Score much more, thought Sandman Vol. 1 and Marvels were better but not by a lot, and still had the same thoughts regarding Kingdom Come just more thought-out.

Recent random reads...

True Believers #1 (of 5). I liked this book. The writing and story were pretty good, and a vet artist like Gulacy is always nice. I will definitely pick up the rest of the series.

Final Crisis #3. This book is still a let-down, but the end half with Wonder Woman picked up a bit. I hope the series pays off...

Ed & Red's Comic Strip #3. It's Ed The Sock as a comic. If you don't know who that is, try Googling him.

Neozoic #1 (Red 5 Comics). I got this issue at a recent convention, and the artist signed it for me too (he's a nice guy). The story concept is good, but the writing wasn't as strong. The art is really nice. I plan on getting a more recent issue to see of the story gets stronger.

Guardians #'s 1 & 2. A Marvel series from a few years back by Sumerak & Jones. I really liked these issues. Easy to read, nice art, and very entertaining. I'm looking forward to getting around to reading the rest of them.

Countdown Arena #1 (of 4). Not as bad as I thought it might be. Will read the others after I move.

Banzai Girl #1 (Sirius). I've had this kicking around for a while, and I finally read it. The art and story are very good, and well thought out. The creator obviously put a lot of thought into this book as a whole.

GeNext #3. Disappointed yet again. I will stay until the end though.

Trinity #'s 7 & 8. Still going strong. I recommend this series.

Avengers: House of M #1 (of 5). Nicely written by Gage, and great art from Perkins. I hope the remainder of the mini is good too.

Iron Man Annual #1. Iron Man in Madripoor - cool story.

This was a very good mini series, I'm looking forward to the Civil War one.

Wolverine #70

Not having picked up an issue since #66 I was quite interested in finding out why Logan quit being a superhero in this post-apocalyptic "what if". The plot for a group of villains to gang up and take out Wolverine seemed a little too simple but the use of Mysterio was a nice twist. It always brings a smile to my face as he's a villain whose been used masterfully when he isn't treated as a d-lister (which is mainly all the time). Millar is at his best when he's given a simple storyline and adds his brand of action, this issue is no exception to that formula.

Wolverine: Flies to a Spider One-Shot

I basically condemned Greg Hurwitz when he was one of the writers tackling the Punisher MAX series but after reading this one shot i'd gladly eat those words and pick up a copy. Not much in the way of complexity, Wolverine shows up to a corrupt small town to avenge small girl and her step father. Again, the story wasn't too heavy but it had that MAX feel as it was more grounded and mature.
