LGBT characters never get the support. They get used for a few stories and then get cast into the pit with the rest of the "homosexual plot point" characters. Of coruse, that's mainly because writers just use them up and leave them nothing left except for being "the gay one." The only way one could hope to really break into the forefront would be to (and it sucks that this is the case) out a major character. Not ideal, but it's the world we live in.

Also, why would it be pissing on it? You think Iceman (or whoever) would be the first person in the history of manking to date women (or men) their whole life and then come out of the closet? Why would you even care? How would it honestly change a character for the worse? So they like chicks instead of dudes or dudes instead of chicks, or they like both, how does that rewrite their entire history?

No one has ever given me a good reason for this belief. Ever.

So if northstar, richtor, chick quasar or Batwoman stopped being gay tomorrow you wouldn't see a problem with it?

ANYWAY. I don't advocate changing any character willy-nilly, but if you can tell a good story, go for it.

Unless it involves teh gayz. Because doing so will undo the very fabric of time, space and decency among mankind.

you have 50 years of stories where we see their innermost thoughts, with absolutely no indication that they are struggling with their sexuality, then out of know where that is all pointless because someone wanted a publicity stunt.

Saying it again doesn't make this point less bullshit.

By this same logic I could state that Superman and Batman are misogynistic bastards based simply on how they treated female characters back in the 50's.

By this logic I could say that all black character are street-tough jive talkers, because that's how they talked 30 years ago.

By this logic, all characters should dress like they were drawn by Rob Liefeld, because they existed in the 90's.

By this logic I could say that all comic characters are functionally retarded, because they all used to speak like emotionally stunted monkeys.

In short, it's a stupid argument. There are plenty of good arguments for why it should never happen to certain characters, but a vague "# years of history being undone" is not one of them.

Anyway, I don't even honestly care if they out or don't out any major characters. I really don't. It's the fact that fanboys get so fucking bent out of shape that bothers me. It's like dealing with sadder more zealous Evangelicals.

Actually no, you can't say any of those things by that logic. And the fact that you think you can just shows that you have no understanding of that logic at all. You're obviously invested in the idea because you yourself are gay and can't accept the very few quality gay characters are in comic books today. But rather than shoe horning pre-existing characters into some hackneyed plot why not support new characters who are gay or stories where existing characters are revealed to be gay and it actually makes sense (X-factor).

First of all, how is Iceman not on this list?

Secondly, while we have been privy to their inner most thoughts for 50 years how often have those thoughts been about anything sex related and not simply exposition about what Dr Doom is planning? When was the last time Cap looked towards Mockingbird and thought "Wow, nice ass." thereby cementing his heterosexuality?

Lastly, Nieto do you only patrol every threads looking for opportunities to defend Naceriman's honor or can we all look forward to this level of personal mawd protection?

No not every issue has Cap commenting on a woman's behind, but theirs enough of him " Wowza Sharon is a great gal and beautiful too, I'm lucky to have her" through out and a distinct lack of "Sharon is nice, but that Tony has something I just can't put my finger on"

You're argument is basically "why not?"

It's a bad argument, there must be some reason why you're so adamant that it's okay to make Cap, Ice man, or any character gay when then there is zero evidence to suggest that he is.
