I like the stories. I grew up with all of these heroes. That's why I buy them.

Pretty much the same for me. I'm a completist too, so I enjoy filling in holes, runs, etc..

For the same reason Sports Illustrated puts out a swimsuit issue every year. Dangling the carrot in front of the kept horse.

I was one of those idiots who had to buy the foil cover editions back in the 1990s. Now, I just buy for the stories and I am happy to give my books away when I finish reading them.

I use to collect some for worth but those have since become firewood.

I've always read comics for stories and characters I like. If they end up being worth something, that's cool. I still probably wouldn't sell them.

I used to collect and read. I'd read it, bag it, board it, and usually never read it again. Then I weeded a lot out and kept the ones I loved reading and the ones worth more than $20. Then I thought I was going to Peace Corps that first time around and sold a bunch to rid myself of moving them around. Then I just got tired of floppies and switched to trade. And then I donated those to the library. So I can still read them whenever but I don't have to move them with me. And if I really get in a bind, I can gank a read at B&N, usually. I don't own any comics at the current time.

I got to Borders and B&N a lot to just read trades, and my lcs has no problem with me just reading there and not buying.
