I have a feeling that this will revolve around Jean returning because of the schism between Scott's group and Logan's group. However, she will be returning too soon which will cause some sort of problem in the Phoenix force. Perhaps there will be a power struggle as some of the other suitable hosts for the force struggle for power over the Phoenix. This will all culminate when Logan and Jean finally profess their true feelings for one another which will give Jean the confidence to take control of the Phoenix and banish it once and for all.

Hopefully there will be no tension between Scott, Emma, and Jean since it was Jean who gave them her blessing in the form of a psychic push in the first place.

Definitely not, Marvel don't need to do a reboot.

That's straight out of Phoenix Endsong. Literally, that's the same exact plot.

Damn, its been awhile since I read Endsong. I had remembered that Jean said she had returned too early during that mini-series but aside from the Phoenix discovering that Scott loves Emma more than Jean and choosing her as a new host and Quentin Quire wanting to use the Phoenix to resurrect Sophie, I didn't really remember there being a fight between potential hosts.

One thing that I have been curious about since the start of Schism and now even more so with the announcement of the return of the Phoenix, is will the fragment of the Void that Scott has locked away in his mind come in to play at all? Some of Scott's more questionable choices have been made since taking the Void fragment from Emma and it would be interesting to see how the Void reacts to the Phoenix.

Marvel has spent too many years building one story upon another, whereas DC spent the past seven years trying patch fix upon fix. (Superboy Prime Continuity Punch? ...seriously?)

Mephisto reveals to Aunt May what Peter did to save her life. She's utterly tormented by the loss of his happiness, and wants to fix things. Mephisto also reveals the existence of the Phoenix Force, and places old May in the presence of an old friend of hers, someone who is on the Force's level in terms of raw force: Galactus, her former master.

And then an 8 issue, "self-contained" miniseries that requires you to read ALL tie ins to know what the fuck is happening ensues, as they road trip around the cosmos and the astral planes to track down, acquire, and use the Force to save the Spider-Marriage. And consume worlds together, because the Phoenix Force (contained in May's 1000 year old body) and Galactus have discovered a primal force of the universe even they are powerless before: Drunken lust.

And hangovers. And something hinting ominously at next year's event, which apparently has to do with the Badoon and beagles.
