Confirmed DC Cancellations: Vibe, Katana, Green Team

The three Nu52 titles are confirmed canceled as of December and January, but Superman: Unchained lives on!

Source: CBR

When DC's January solicitations were released yesterday, dozens of fans were disappointed to learn that The Green Team: Teen Trillionaires would see its final issue that month. More ambiguous, however, were the lack of solicitations for Justice League of America's Vibe and Katana, as well as Superman: Unchained. ComicBookResources has just confirmed via their incestuous, payola-laden relationship with DC Comics that Vibe and Katana are indeed canceled, with the December issues being the last for the books. Superman: Unchained, however, is simply skipping January, because superstar artist Jim Lee can't be expected to draw a monthly comic for more than six issues in a row, and really, we should be grateful he even managed that.

"Costumes with ridiculous high collars and unnecessary seam lines aren't going to redesign themselves," explained Lee, who is reportedly hard at work napping in a warm, sunny spot on the carpet in his living room.

At press time, DC numerologists were working around the clock to ensure that February will see 52 ongoing DC titles solicited, citing "a general feeling of impending doom if they don't" as the motivation to compulsively publish exactly that many books every month.

Canceling books that are less appealing than backfat on a fat guy in a sauna, what a concept. :smt102

I'm kind of ticked about Vibe and Green Team. Green Team was fun and not gritty at all. I hope Baltazar and Franco can do a Blue Beetle series with Jamie. That'd be fun. Vibe has been an interesting book.

I've been getting Katana cause I like the artwork but the story has been meh. The concept's been good but the execution has been off. I like the concept of the revised Creeper.

I'm surprised the Movement is surviving. The first issue was a bit of a dud but has been getting better. It's just that things that are outside the big 7 have such a short leash.

Gail Simone is untouchable after the email firing incident though. DC knows not to fuck with her.

I applaud Lord Ice for taking the time and effort to come up with something original as opposed to the

I'm a huge Gail fan, but... frankly the Movement is not very good -- or at least the first 3 issues weren't, after which I bailed. And I'm not the only one. The thing sold 30k for issue 1, 18k for issue 2, 14k for issue 3, and now is down to just over 11k.

DC usually pulls the trigger once a book goes below 20k, and The Movement has never been above that except for issue 1. It's a little early to cancel it, but at some point their unwillingness to piss of Gail is going to be trumped by the fact that they can't bring in enough money from sales to even pay for the book's production. I'd say that limit is probably pretty close, if they're not already there.

Now... if they believe that ditching the Movement will cause Gail to leave DC completely and become a Dynamite exclusive or something, they might be willing to take the hit for a while. But we've already seen how DC doesn't seem to care how bloodied they get over creator walk-offs... so there's going to be a limit to this kind of restraint.

I would not be surprised if The Movement is over by issue 10 or so.

The Outhouse is the first and only website to imply that Jim Lee is a lazy cat. I think we're very original.
