This made the beginning of the Third Army story look like a masterpiece. And we all remember what a turd that was.

It's basically a clip show of every GL book that leaves you totally in the dark about wtf happened in every other book with no resolution whatsoeve as all of these converge into your typical big Johns fanwank payoff. So here's the quick points:

Nothing about Hal/Sinestro at all.

Baz and Guy talk and then split up with Guy going to Oa while Baz and the chipmunk end up stuck in Black Hand's book where they run into him. Cue the end of the Baz plotline which will continue the next issue of GL.

Guy hooks up with Kilowog and leads an attack on the Guardians using Krona's gauntlet until Kilowog free's the rings of the Corps for the big fight.

John Stewart, Mogo and Fatality fight the Third Army and later get to Oa to join the big fight. Guess this was the GLC subplot

White Lantern Kyle and the New Guardians appear on Oa to also join the fight. The New Guardians subplot.

Atrocitus shows up with a Manhunter army and joins in the fight. Red Lantern subplot.

Cue the big epic fight that this entire event has been teasing with everyone vs the Guardians and their Third Army. But it never actually gets further than a couple pages or so and will likely not go any further despite all thos build-up and foreshadowing we've been getting ever since the DCnU started.

To finish off this story arc the Guardians get desperate and call on ore of the First Lantern's power which leads to this story's conclusion: The First Lantern aka Volthoom breaks free and declares that everyone will be no more to conclude this story leading up to the next mega event of "Wrath of the First Lantern"

So in summary the past 5 months of stories across 4 books of this GL event have basically been filler that went nowhere just to set up the next GL event which will take place the next issue immediately after this with absolutely nothing brought up in this entire event resolved at all.

What a load of shit.

WOW. I have been reading Green Lantern again because I think Johns has a decent voice for character of Simon Baz, but I just didn't care about the Third Army and damn, it sure sounds like I didn't miss much.

Wow. I know they don't care, but DC should really be ashamed of themselves for some shit like that.

Huh. That is a tough one...I'm going to actually have to think about that one. Johns has written it so damn long, I've forgotten what it was like when he wasn't writing the main book

Gave up on all GL at the onset of the NU52 but not because of the NU52 itself. For a while I had become disillusioned with the increasing death & carnage in the franchise. I've always felt GL should be more Space Opera than Aliens.
I'd give DnA a shot so long as they didn't leave the brilliant Hypernaturals....

I think I'd like DnA more on Green Lantern Corps. That would fit more into their cosmic-y vibe. Not sure they would be able to balance the Earth stuff with the cosmic stuff, a requirement for any GL writer.
