Couple questions about the Marvel "Visionaries" trades

Postby Keb » Mon May 14, 2012 11:20 am

First, I picked up Spider-man Visionaries: Roger Stern vol. 1 ($15). Is there a vol. 2? If so, why can't I find anything about it? If not, why the fuck not?

Second, I picked up Daredevil Visionaries: Frank Miller vol. 1 ($10). Are the other two volumes hard to find and/or out of print? I want those two because they are all the Daredevil fighting ninjas stories.

Third, is Thor Visionaries: Walt Simonson work picking up for $19? There were a few at the store but they were a bit pricey (for the budget). Not really a Thor fan, but according to some things I read this shit was off the chain.

I haven't seen Vol 2 or 3 of the Daredevil trades lately. Those things were awesome. Marvel hasn't reprinted many of the Visionaries trades. :-(

Honestly for Thor the best deal is the Omnibus. At 87.78(on Amazon.ca) it's pricey but you get the whole run. Buying all the trades individually will cost you more and it's a gorgeous book.

No, they haven't. They did reprint the Daredevil as "Daredevil by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson", which I could hunt down as they are the exact same order. I just want some consistency. I know at least one store that stocks these kinds of out-of-print things and I know a couple other places may have it sitting around. Don't mind going to ebay either if the prices are good enough.

I got it for $72 from Amazon and will never regret it. The definitive Thor run.

Not a fan of hardcover books, especially really large ones.

I like reading in bed and a heavy hardcover on my chest is not comfy. :-D

Yeah I can see that. The book is so big I had to read it on a table just to be comfortable.

Then yes, it's worth the money to get the Visionaries. But last I checked (2 seconds ago), you could get one for about $12 on Amazon.

Plus shipping to Canada...

It all works out. :) Next time I get paid I'll check out the Thor.

They've started coming out. Of course I've got the hardcovers. Just wish I could find the original issues.

I borrowed the first and second hardcovers from a friend and they are AWESOME!

I got a gift card from a family friend so I will have to order those pieces online.

Grabbed 1 and 2 of the Thor Visionaries and the 2nd Daredevil Visionaries.

I have some books to trade in so I'll use those to get the rest of the Thor stuff in the coming weeks if I like it.

Just finishing up the Roger Stern visionaries trade and I'm disappointed there aren't more in this line. I guess people don't fucks with Stizzern? Despite an overhanging campiness to some of the stories, I really enjoyed a lot of the issues. The only thing I was "meh" on was Peter running game on Debra Whitman. Thats like two or three notches below his usual. And the whole Roderick Kingsley being the Hobgoblin because the is pure knobgobblin'.
