Slott explains Marvel Now as not being DC's New 52.

Last month Dan Slott became a legend after he gave OH! Entertainment contributor Zechs the Chokeslam from Hell in the Outhouse News Stand forum. Now the  Amazing Spider-Man writer has done the same to DC on Twitter while explaining to another Twitter user how Marvel NOW will be different from DC’s New 52.

Slott obviously won’t be on DC Co-Publisher Dan Didio’s Christmas card list after this. But this shouldn’t matter, as Santa ought to give him that pony he always wanted this year for that tweet. That and The Hobgoblin's head wrapped in a pretty red bow, of course.

This is why I prefer how Marvel has been handling their continuity. They sacrifice less at the alter of retcon; DC is beholden to the Gods of Retcon at this point. Sure stuff like Blury (Black Nick Fury), random deals with the devil which erase marriages (emotional baggage weighing down a character), and brainwashing/wiping of an entire populace can be utilized to fix bad decisions a year later still squeeze there way in but no one has ever punched the Marvel Universe.

All these writers and artists are on for the long haul!!!

Except when they are not. We've seen these line wide relaunches, rejuvinations...... all of it before. It never delivers what they promise. This is just heroic age 2.0.

Which still beats a full retcon any-day of the week. Is it gimmicky? Sure. Do I have to relearn characters I have grown to love? Hell no. Class dismissed.
