Regardless, Norman was connected to Peter at the moment via the revelation being Harry's friend and thus knowing his dad. Hence the entire point of the Green Goblin. He became a villain who Pete didn't know and yet became the most personal villain of all.

3 yrs after his first appearance.

Kinda like Ned as the Goblin.

They kiled the character by not one, but two writers leaving the book without wrapping up the mystery and both refusing to tell their successors who it was. (each one having someone different).

Really? I did. I actually read them all and guess what. I came to the conclusion it wasn't Ned. But then I actually read you know, Roger Stern as well. The guy who kinda started this all.

its like 'fixing' the 50s cap when thomas did that. no one fucking cared that Cap had appeared in 4 issues in the 50s.

It would be like me retconning the Armagedoon 2000 reveal of Monarch as Hawk, switched at the last second from Captain Atom because it leaked. Hawk doesnt make any sense.

But who gives a fuck? it was 20 yrs ago.

This whole thread is about a character who hasn't appeared for like 20 years, lol.

TWO YEARS. The Goblin was around, but Norman appeared two years prior to being revealed as the Green Goblin. Ned was around since well almost day one. So the question is, why the hell didn't he become a supervillain then?

and left in a huff without telling his successor his plans and without wrapping up the central story of his run, thereby ensuring that it would forever be a second rate story and mystery.

You can't unring that bell.

I like evil psycho 50's Cap, so I like that retcon. :smt102

Still, your overall point makes sense.

But that's the point. Slott says the character's book was closed. So why the hell do you bring him back only to close the book again? Just saying.

I can name a bunch more.

Earth-2 being where all the old stories took place.

Wolverine.

Sabertooth.

The Speed Force.

Byrne's Superman.

Perez's WW.

I could continue, but I don't care.

Almost all DC retcon's suck, sorry.

My point was not that there was a psycho cap from the 50s

my point was that it bothered Thomas that Captain america appeared throughout and beyond WWII and then even in the 50s

but Stan and Jack retconned he'd been killed in the middle of WWII

and Thomas thus had to explain. explain, explain why there were comics of Cap after that by inserting like 4 other Caps. No one cared!

Recently? Probably.

The older stuff they did had a lot of great mixed in with the bad. Just like every other company.

You do know he did tell DeFalco that Kingsley was the Hobgoblin right? In the Madgoblin articles, DeFalco himself was quoted that Stern told him, Kingsley was the Hobgoblin. It's just that DeFalco figured to add his own edge to it thus Richard Fisk being the Hobgoblin. Which in turn made more fucking sense than Ned Leeds.

It's hard to keep track, DC is so lame about stuff.

Do they have an official superman origin?
They refuse to have an official joker origin, which is lame.
Green Lantern is such a squandered franchise, of course that is more recently.

The conflicting Joker origins is one of my favorite things in comics. :smt102
