Marvel's Infinity event will feature Thanos attacking Earth while the Avengers are in space.

USA Today revealed some information about Infinity, Marvel’s next big event (whose preview issue is Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day comic.) Although we are reporting on this today, USA Today’s story is dated March 31, so we are pretty sure it’s not an April Fool’s Day joke from Rich Johnson (who is kind of going nuts over at Bleeding Cool today.) Infinity will feature everybody’s favorite purple-tinted engine of destruction,
Barney Thanos, which is not suprising since he appears on the already-released cover art.
"The universe's greatest serial killer is cut loose to do bad things to our most precious world, “according to Jonathan Hickman, who will be scripting the book, along with a tag team of Jim Cheung, Jerome Opena and Dustin Weaver handling the art chores.
According to America’s number one source of colorful graphs, The Infinity event will feature what happens when the Avengers leave Earth to stop The Builders (the mysterious beings that spawned Aleph and Ex Nihlo in Avengers), leaving our planet vulnerable to attack from Thanos.
The Avengers cross over issues will focus on the Avengers, along with Nova and The Guardians of the Galaxy, as they travel throughout the Marvel Universe trying to unite the Skrulls, Kree, and The Brood against The Builders.
Meanwhile, in Infinity and New Avengers, the event will focus on Thanos and his attempts to make Earth his next conquest and the efforts of the remaining Earth bound Marvel heroes to stop him.
"Somebody like Daredevil, who's used to dealing with more street-level problems, has to suddenly face foes and situations that are a little bit out of his ordinary weight class," says Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort.”
The Inhumans are reportedly playing a part in Infinity as well, but it is unclear what their role will be. The only thing we can be sure of is that it will probably not be the way Uncle Rich described at Bleeding Cool, which, we hope, is an April Fools’ Day joke.
