Punchy once again you're quite wrong. People do enjoy the character. This story is one of the biggest articles of this week. Other articles of this are trending like hell. People do care. The question is does DC truly? Or is this one of their famous have a small bone (Batman: Eternal) then retract it (the character appears in nothing else for another three years, kill her off, or give her to Scott Lobdell)?

The same thing will happen with Wally West. Cassandra Cain? The damage is done thanks to past Batman Editorial, DC's stance of not putting her entire series out to trade correctly, and Adam Beechen. But.. if Snyder is given a full chance?

The funny thing mind you is she's probably the most popular female minority character DC's got and because a few kooks in the upper offices just don't like her because her costume just doesn't please them (Jim Lee said this much on why the character never appeared in Hush).

I just think the immediate jump to incredible pessimism is amusing.

For months people have wanted this character to return, and now that she is, they aren't happy, they instead immediately jump to the worst possible outcomes.

Can't you just be happy for 5 minutes? Or at least until Batman Eternal is actually out?

That's largely DC's doing, if you ask me. I'm cautiously optimistic, but a friend of mine (who was always a big fan of Steph) has no faith in the news. This isn't simply loving to complain, it's because DC has fouled up their characters and their universe. The higher-ups don't seem to know what they're doing, and they care more about gimmicks than good storytelling.

I want to be. I was so excited a few years back when Cassandra was announced to have returned in Gates only to show up a month earlier in Batman Inc. Then those four months I was a happy fan. Then the New 52 announcement, but reassurance from Snyder she'd be still around and appear in #1. But she didn't. Then an early Batgirl moment from volume 4 that pisses me the hell off which isn't just a slap in the face to twenty years of Barbara as Oracle, but Bette, Cassandra, and Stephanie as well.

If there's anyone to blame for my misery and contempt it's DC itself for making me this way. But I have hope. Hope that this will be it. The change that can last!!

That's because everything Dan and the Gang have been doing with these characters IS the worst possible outcome:

The Justice League is a group of jerks in '90s throwback high collars.

Lobdell has managed to make the Teen Titans suck EVEN WORSE than before the DCnU, a feat which should not have been possible.

Lobo, of ALL characters, has been remade into a ridiculous "pretty-boy" refugee from a Final Fantasy game.

Like the others, I'm not at all interested in the prospect of seeing Steph rendered into yet another unrecognizable DCnU pod person. As I've been telling DiDio-era DC for YEARS now, if you're going to do something, do it RIGHT.

Can't you just be happy for 5 minutes?

Sure, when I read a comic created before Dan and the Gang polluted the DC characters with their imbecilic ideas...

Everyone on an individual basis has characters they like regardless of how popular they are or aren't. Zechs has Stephanie, Cassandra, Cyborg Superman, the Kingsley Hobgoblin, etc, Herald has Vibe, the female Dr. Light and so on, I myself have Jean Paul Valley, Orpheus, the Eradicator and some of the aforementioned characters Zechs likes and so forth.

St Walker survived. I read an article somewhere that hinted that the Blue Lanterns may be returning sometime in the near future.

Pretty much this or the Rob Liefeld treatment with the big boobs, pouches and little feet.

Sorry, man. But DC hasn't earned a lot of trust lately, you know?

Especially when they hire fuck-ups like Didio and Harras to steer the ship and cause it to slowly sink soon after.
