So I just read Demon Knights which I've noticed is almost universally loved.
It was really interesting with some good art.
I've noticed DC has tried to make these first issues accessible, but there have been times that has been a detriment to the story (which should change now that introductions have been made). There have been too many Chris Claremont moments (ie a guy is jumping into battle and has a whole paragraph of dialogue of what his powers are, what he's going to use them for and how).
But I digress. Demon Knights was good, but goddamn does DC editorial suck. Just like in a few of the other books, I can't tell what's happening at points. It's as if the editors don't understand how to tell a story and just accept any pretty picture sent their way. This happened A TON in Men of War.
It just felt that to be accessible to new readers, they new they had only one shot and needed to put all the players on the board in one issue. It happened in JLI and in this as well. The stories feel crammed together.
I don't want to just complain about this, because after Animal Man, it was probably my favorite of the new DC. I just felt they took #1 issue that could have been excellent and made it very good instead.
