Dark Knight Returns should have never had a sequel. I don't care that Miller had an idea for it. It definitely affects how I see the original, which was about as perfect an ending for Batman as one could get. It ENDS the Dark Knight beautifully and tells the story of that final blind arrow shot...

This is indicative of the problem with comics. No one can ever move on. No story can ever really finish. No character can ever really die, and it dilutes the medium.

Sure, taken on its own, is this a terrible thing? Not really. But it is endemic in the business. By your reasoning, there should be a Killing Joke 2 and V for Vengeance.

EVERY Joker story since 1989 has been Killing Joke 2, what's your point?

also, Watchmen the book is indeed overrated. looking at it from a craft and technique standpoint, it's a masterpiece. looking at it as an actual story...meh.

the movie doesn't even have the craft and technique aspect to hang its hat on (it chooses instead to hang it from Ackerman's nips, which i suppose is a fine substitute :-D

)

Watchmen is overrated

Alan Moore only did to DC what Marvel had been doing since day 1, making characters with fatal flaws.

And I agree with Chap, the technical part of it was a masterpiece, the story was meh.
