Get ready to bring out your torches and pitchforks once again you Hickman fans, because I really didn’t like this one. I’ve seen people talking about how this brought Hickman’s run full-circle and shows how he’s some kind of genius, but I can’t really see it. Yes, it did end in the same way his run began with a father trying to get his son to jump off a ledge, but other than that… it made no sense. Future-Franklin shows up out of nowhere, fights some Celestials, brings back Galactus, which for some reason turns the tide even though Galactus had been soundly beaten by the Celestials last month. The reasons why Franklin did what he did or why he managed to win this time were never explained by Hickman, or at least not in a way that got through to me. There were some good moments like when Future-Franklin and Now-Franklin spoke at the same time, and the resurrection of Galactus was cool when seen in isolation, but other than that… a rather confusing mess. Epting’s art was fantastic as usual, but still an unsatisfying conclusion.
