I just put this book back on my pull list out of principle.

I'm willing to give it a shot, particularly since this preview may or may not show the entire context for that reveal.

That said, I'm with Grayson in saying that my first reaction is somewhat conflicted.

If you're buying books just because I don't like them, you might want to reassess your principles.

Perhaps, but it's also possible that the new writer has some interesting ideas and story possibilities revolving around this that he can pull of in this series. There's no way to know until the issue comes out. Sometimes something initially done for shock value can evolve into something great. I'm not judging one way or another so soon.

they killed A Sandman. In this alternate Earth that's a uniform worn by an elite group of soldiers called the Sandmen.

They don't have any powers. It's just a name for their elite unit.

Exactly, I am willing to give this a shot because James Robinson bought a lot of good faith in this series with his finale issue but I'm not sure how I feel about the spoiler that IvCNuB4 posted.

Dodds didn't have any powers either, just a gun with sleeping gas. Didn't make him any less awesome. :smt102

True, but Dodds wasn't completely without powers either.
