I just saw this on Newsarama:

http://blog.newsarama.com/2011/10/05/ca ... -possibly/

Over on her tumblr, Gail Simone has revealed two things for fans of her Secret Six run. Firstly, Catman was/is bisexual. Secondly, Gail has more Catman in her future, in some form. Somehow, I suspect that the former is going to be the thing that people are going to react to the most, but for me, the latter is the more exciting. Especially when she says this (emphasis mine):

"I don’t want to reveal the exact scene yet, but [Catman's sexuality] would become revealed to Deadshot through a set of circumstances. My first thought was Deadshot reacting in a bit of shock, which seemed to make sense going by Deadshot’s character. But then I thought about it, and I think it’s MORE his character that he knew or suspected and didn’t give a ****.

I can’t use the exact scene I had in mind, so I can at least reveal that bit. But the rest is still in play the next time I get to write the two of them together, which Dan has assured me, is very much on the table."

It took me awhile to warm up to Secret Six, because I am stupid, but this news makes me very, very happy. I’d eagerly pick up a Deadshot/Catman title, if that ended up happening (Although, really, the one I’d really want would be a Scandal series…).

Seems like an unnecessary thing to add to the character, but whatever. I'd be happy to see her return to that group of characters or that tone of book.

As for her comments about potentially returning to the characters, that just makes me further believe that there will be an event next year that just resets the previous status quo and return some of the old books and the numberings.

Would someone please make her stop. In just a few months she went from one of my favorite writers to somewhere between Chuck Austin and devin grayson. :smt011

Is Deadshot gay too? And she seems excited about this and that's creepy. DC should just change every character.

I was about to reply with "shameless pandering" but you kinda beat me to the punch.

If they can make his bisexuality interesting, im all for it. Seems a bit weird for her to get so into it though.

Yeah you know... Catman doesn't suddenly need to be bi-sexual. That seems to be coming out of nowhere. And for the record, Secret Six was Gail's greatest book to date and DC's change destroyed that.

My thoughts-
1. Of course this is total pandering to the large number of Secret Six fans who thought Deadshot and Catman should make out already.
2. Nearly every book at the big two is filled with things that are equally pandering that people don't feel the need to point out.
3. It's not like Catman was a fully realized and rounded character pre-Simone- in nearly 50 years he had less than 25 appearances and was never a protagonist of a story.

I say let them have it.

So to have a comic with an attractive person in it is pandering?
