Geoff Johns tweets his involvement in new aqua-project.

Geoff Johns revealed via Twitter last night that after Brightest Day his next project would be a new Aquaman #1, coming later this year. More details are not yet available, and it's unclear whether the book is to be an ongoing or limited series, but The Outhouse will have more detail as it becomes available.

Aquaman's been the strongest part of Brightest Day. Plus, no one gives a crap about his continuity so he can do whatever he wants with the character's past.

I bet Reis is doing pencils on the project.

. Really not much of a surprise that Johns was going to do Aquaman next. You could tell with Brightest Day alone that the more quality story out of that book was Johns love for Aquaman.

I won't lie: I've been pretty burned out on Geoff Johns' material of late, by and large -- that happens for me when I read a lot of a person's work over a long period of time.

But I'll say this: That guy can write the hell out of Aquaman. Personally, I think Johns gets Aquaman better than almost anybody he's written -- that includes Hal Jordan and the JSA, with the exception of the characters that he created, obviously.

Limited, ongoing, doesn't matter. I'm buying it, and I'm looking forward to it.

Geoff said in his interview with Vaneta on Newsarama that he was adding a 3rd monthly book to his workload after Brightest Day ends. Clearly, this is it (IMHO) since WB/DCE has been doing budget estimates for an Aquaman movie after GL and Flash.

I suspect a big name writer and/or artist is taking over JLA later this year, but it won't be Geoff. He's still got to finish Batman: Earth One with Gary Frank and Flashpoint, then relaunch The Flash (again). And that's not including the long-promised Sinestro: Secret Origin either.
