That last page of Catwoman #1 was perhaps the nastiest thing I've ever seen in a DC comic.

And that bedroom scene in Red Hood & the Outlaws was tawdry, but in better taste than Judd Winick's penthouse romp.

Not that this is anything I've never seen in a comic book before. I'm not a prude. I just think it puts a smudge on the characters.

Does DC think it will modernize the characters if they show them bumping uglies with each other?

Considering I've read that scene with Odin Quincannon from Preacher, it's probably not the nastiest thing I've seen :P

They really went out of their way to emphasize the moment though, but given Winick's the guy that went out of his way to throw in an orgy of Monsieur Mallah's Brotherhood of Evil into one of his Outsiders issues...it wasn't really a shock.

Oh you see that stuff all the time in Vertigo. I just think it was a bit out of place for a mainstream comic.

Not in a Winick comic lol. I think the only time he hasn't done it was in Generation Lost, and I put that on Giffen.

All I saw of Catwoman was a page where sh'e straddling Batman on the floor and lifting his shirt, saying that the costumes need to stay on during sex (something along those lines). Was there more to it than that?

I also saw a page from I guess Red Hood and the Whatever, where Starfire is in a bikini telling I think Speedy that she wants to have sex with him, and that "love" has nothing to do with it. Did that go further as well?

In the Red Hood book, she bangs Jason Todd regularly and yes, Speedy DID bang her too. I guess Lobdell thinks he's writing 90's Wildcats again.

As for the Catwoman thing, kinda PG-13 NSFW:

You're shocked that a Catwoman comic is sexually provocative?

I have seen entirely worse than that in comics, and it's not even the cheesecakiest art I've seen so meh?

This wasnt a bad issue but it wasnt good at all either. The end actually ruined it all for me.

It's just this week's DC Relaunch 'controversy'. Week 1 was Batgirl and that DC are sexist, Week 2 was that DC hate fat people and black people and this week it's that DC is too sexy. BleedingCool also seems to be saying that DC is too violent. I can't wait to see what's got the internet's knickers in a twist next week! Maybe Aquaman can call Black Manta a cunt.

While they ramped up the frequency of the violence, DC's always been about massive amounts of gore. The Wonder Woman thing with the horses WAS creepy though.

DC's only been about that in the DiDio era.
They didn't have this gore porn before that.

My housemate called me a cunt this weekend and felt so bad he had to apologise. So on Sunday morning we all used it like the smurfs use the word smurf. My point is that cunt is hilarious and Aquaman should totally do that.
