So my Hobgoblin sense I Bryne stole and looked at the letter pages again just to see if any fans like myself wrote to Marvel pissed at the lack of respect they give Hobgoblin. Sure enough a fan wrote a letter published in the issue saying Macendale was dead not Kingsley.
The response? The person at the letter column corrected himself in that it was Macendale who he was thinking of. However he then dropped that Kingsley might not be at all safe in his retirement.
They're going to tempt me with a horrible story aren't they?

I reread the Hobgoblin Lives mini this past weekend and it still angers me how easily Spidey "defeated" the Hobgoblin. Angers me.
It was like a 2 panel fight.

Roger Stern needs to be punched!

After my gf found ASM #250 for me, I decided to go ahead and pull my Hobgoblin Lives out of strorage. Wasn't a big fan of the short fight scene but I was REALLY let down with the art. Would have LOVED for some Romita Jr. art instead...

In the Caribean Island in retirement enjoying his criminal earnings. It's been that fate for him for over 11 years now with Marvel's Hobgoblin bias. Even gone the character still has his fans that clamour for his return to menance everyone in the Marvel Universe again.

I actually have no problem with him retiring. It's better than having him "die" and latter be resurected in a lame ass way.

Yeah it means he goes out on top and did something no other villain ever has done except probably the Shade. He shows that crime DOES pay.

That's the biggest reason I WOULDN'T want to see Hobby return. He went out on top, with a bang and anything else they'd do would probably cheapen or ruin the character.
Now, a NEW Hobgoblin (with ties to/trained by the original), written in the same spirit as the real one, on the other hand... Thoughts?

They still can with that "new" Hobgoblin since they've done diddley with him. Honestly, I could see one more story told with Roddy with him using the new Hobby like Norman did with Green Goblin VI. Then use him to lay the groundwork for his return.
